I Want a Cheese Enchilada.

Recommended Posts

Yes, I agree, you will be able to eat them again (hopefully)!

One thing, I'm using my honeymoon period to do--we are all different, so many of you guys don't have my "unhealthy" connection to food. LOL.

I make "healthy" quick deconstructed enchiladas. I always have cooked cubed or sliced chicken, turkey taco meat, etc in the freezer and so I just make long thin slices of zucchini (like on FB) and use 3 slices as a "tortilla". Fill it with chicken, onion, some cilantro--sprinkle with Mexi spices, and top with pre-made enchilada sauce and a bit of cheese.

You can also make cheese version using 2% Kraft Deli Deluxe (1/2 slice inside with onion will do it for ya), then top the "zucchini tortilla" with enchilada sauce and cheese. :) Bam! Broil until cheese is melty and enjoy! No guilt. No extra pounds.

But even those are a tiny bit away until you heal more and are cleared for foods!

Hang in there.

Here's a bariatric-friendly recipe you could try at home!

One of the things I've been really proactive about doing while I'm still on liquids is trying to find recipes NOW that mimic foods I used to have but are healthier swaps. These are things that my whole family could enjoy in their portion size but at the same time allow me to eat without fear of weight gain. There's lots of great books and websites out there! Spend an hour or two just browsing google and Amazon and you're sure to find some awesome stuff.

That is smart, I need to start that.. You were sleeved just a week before me ;) I wish this site had a recipe tab. Please share good ones that you find if you have the time! Thanks

Hellooo everyone. I am new here, sleeved Tuesday October 23rd. Will I ever be able to have just 1 single cheese enchilada ever again? This breakup hurts. In between sips of Water and Protein (BLAAH) drink, I long for a cheese enchilada, and do feel a bit hungry.
SERIOUSLY, you are like my spirit animal right now. My fave food ever. And looking forward to when I can have ONE and be satisfied not even finishing it! And not eat the chips & salsa and Spanish rice!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
