Hi dear, thank you for sharing. I met my goal at 6 months post-op 2 years ago.i stayed at goal for a few weeks, goal is 150 I, yoyo to 160 and back down again. I convince myself it's ok to go up and down a bit but it scares me. I need a pouch reset I think, not sure what to do.

pouch reset is a fad diet; crash diets never work and is not the right approach post-WLS. Instead, work with a therapist to resolve your head issues, then focus on the bariatric “rules;” dense Protein first followed by non-starchy vegetables, use a scale to measure portions, don’t drink during meals or 30 mins afterwards, track what you eat with a food journal or an app like MyFitnessPal, drink a minimum of 64 oz of Water a day, cut out processed food & junk, no alcohol, etc.

I think it did start once I reached my goal. A sort of panic set in where I didn't know what to do anymore. All I know is dieting and gaining weight. So maintenance is a totally new world for me.

I don't know if this is going to help you but did you ever read about "goals" - like what happens when you reach one?

People need goals. Best is to be prepared in advance: "What will be my next big and challenging goal once I have reached this one?"

Weird as it sounds but sometimes people fear reaching their goals because they fall into this big hole once they reached it.

So what's your next big goal? It doesn't necessarily have to be fitness or health related but it should be big and challenging.

I'm definitely going to set another goal. That's something I really need.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't responded. Just an update...I went back to my therapist on 10/30/18 and we're going to start sessions again. I used to see him pre-surgery and he specializes in eating disorders and OCD. I'm hopeful and will keep you posted. Thank you so much for all the feedback

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
