Frustr8 7,886 Posted October 25, 2018 Don't be scared, you have me to talk to anytime and I am 72, be 73 the Day after Christmas, had a RNY September 5th, not ever going to regret it, it has started me on a great weight loss, better than any diet, not looking back, only forward from now on. 1 CyndieRI reacted to this
Pjj431 71 Posted October 25, 2018 Thanks. Have to admit am concerned but am looking forward to better mobility. Years of working in kitchens on cement floors and arthritis have taken their toll. Weight has to come off. Have things to do,places to go lol. Not looking forward to hospital stay. Surgeon says 1 day. Did you have lots of discomfort? Able to get around and function after few days? I know we need to move immediately and walk but how about normal activities. A friend had and made it seem like nothing but she’s a lot younger .

Other than that I was fine. I walked the halls in the hospital (slowly at first) with little to no pain and by 1 week I was moving like I did pre-surgery. Good luck!! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

Frustr8 7,886 Posted October 26, 2018 My surgery was smooth as silk, and the recovery started out that way. My hospitalization was not the traditional walk in the hall, get rid of the gas, How many times around the nurses station? but you know what? it was still okay, I felt incredibly warm, safe and respected and in its way, it still was a wonderful experience. I would like to call a moratorium on surgery, but I have 2 others staring me in the face. My stricture should be made better tomorrow, then I can advance my diet, and maybe, get back into the food for my son and me. Once we can have tuna salad, chili, even bean Soup together, my son will be so happy, he hasn't liked Mom on a liquid diet very much , especially for 7 weeks. Pjj431 71 Posted October 26, 2018 YesYes back to Soup and tuna will make you feel back to normal. Eating with family important I think.
