LynnV1964 134 Posted October 22, 2018 Was given the go ahead 3 weeks ago to have caffeine (now I’m 4 weeks post op). Just tried coffee today and after 3 small sips my lower abdomen started to cramp. Kept it up off and on for about 1 1/2 hours. Bad enough that I ran to the bathroom several times with nothing horrible happening. Then it was gone. Had a few sips of ice tea last week and my stomach hurt. Is this maybe due to the caffeine? Hope not but it seems like it.

This is one of the reasons docs want folks to limit their caffeine intake, because of the calcium binding effect. But you can use this to your advantage, add a decent amount of fat free milk to your coffee and see if that helps/changes things. I use this daily to keep things moving and clear. Wake up, cup of coffee with sugar free sweetened Creamer, some fat free milk, then pretty much as soon as I'm done, I down 3 large mouthfuls of water and let the cleanse begin. 2 GreenTealael and GettinSkinnywithit reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted October 22, 2018 Try Decaf or half caf and work your way back up to tolerance, or just stay with decaf. Also low acid coffee maybe something to look into. Cheers! 1 Matt Z reacted to this
LynnV1964 134 Posted October 22, 2018 Thanks everyone! It’s weird ....I don’t really miss it, but now and then it smells so good! And it was quite a routine in the morning and on the way to work. I guess it’s been replaced by my daily Protein Shake, which is better for me anyhow!

I only drink coffee for the taste, (the caffeine has no energy boosting effect on me) So you the lower acid & caffeine varieties are still a possibility, also there are coffee substitutes My fav coffee and fav coffee substitute pictured below
