Is it possible they missed the port?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Here is my situation. I got a fill a few days ago and haven't really noticed any change in restriction. The nurse used a 1.5 inch Huber needle and when she pulled out the "old fluid" it was a light brown in color and there was 1cc there which is a little less than the 1.6cc they put in 3 weeks ago:glasses. The Fluid they put in at my last fill was normal clear saline. Do you think it is possible the needle was too short and that she didn't get into my port? Or do you think there is something else wrong that would change the color of the Fluid like maybe bleeding or infection? The nurse said it was not a problem but she is fairly new to the doctor's office, and I am not sure she really knows. Please post with your thoughts as I find this all to be a little strange.

Thanks!!:guess

I had my first fill yesterday morning. I have no restriction. I don't feel any different and have to wonder also if the Doc missed the port. He did not use flouroscope just felt for my port with his fingers and in went the needle. Did not hurt, but I feel nothing, no restriction at all. :(

I have Dr. Fiallo as well and am going in for my third fill. I'm still able to eat everything; hopefully, I'll start to feel restriction. It should be 2 cc's if all goes well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
