Coughing, incision scars

Recommended Posts

I have two questions. How long does it take for the surgery cuts to go away? I’ve been coughing for 2 weeks straight and one of my cuts is red now and honestly it kind of hurts when I cough in that location. Is that bad? Had my surgery on Aug 16th 2018

My husband had quadruple bypass last year and I've had numerous surgeries involving my abdomen. My advice with coughing is to keep your throat lubricated and hold a pillow or hard stuffed animal against your tummy when you cough. It gives something to help with the pressure. My husband got a bear from the hospital that had a shirt that said "sir koff a lot".

Might need to have that checked out, if under skin wasn't fully healed you could pop a little hernia, and that is nothing anyone would want you to have.
That said, my 7 are all pretty well healed except Big Red , the largest on my right side, that is where on a bypasser the equipment that does the important work is inserted. He's still a little red and bumpy, probably extra reinforced stitches down there. Usually on sleevers, it. is one of left ones because that. is where your stomach. remnant is pulled across and removed. But most of mine are "silvering " out, and start hiding among my stretch marks. I had 3 babies 8 to 9 and half pounds, and I swear I carried each at a different angle.

I hope that helps. When you start coughing, try sucking on sf popsicles. Coughing with fresh surgery is no fun. I know even when I farted, sneezed, or coughed I wanted to punch something it hurt so bad.

I took a stuffed rabbit with me to OSU when I had my surgery. Her name was Roux N. Rabbit and she was my "splinting" Buddy for coughs and sneezes.🐰

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
