During this stage, I survived on SF Popsicles and primarily homemade Bone Broth Soups. I ate a lot of Soup during my liquid phase because it was the only thing my pouch could accept. The soup also satisfied my "hunger" feelings because I was drinking something I made and it was low in sodium.

You've got this, I promise it gets easier as you move forward.

Remember to tell yourself that this will pass. It will probably pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass. I'm 6 months post op and there's times I swear I'm starving, but it's head hunger. Like someone else mentioned, I lived off sf popsicles and broth. I loved the warmth from the broth and a different meaty taste than the sweet tastes of the Protein Drinks. I couldn't stomach Jello, it hurt and my dr's office actually stopped telling people it was good to eat in the first few stages because you can't really chew it and it goes down thick

I’m 4 days post op and currently not hungry but it hurts when I drink Protein Water and I’ve got diarrhea which may be from the milk.. I’m only drinking water at the moment because I’m to scared. What’s everyone been feeling with their pain ? I know everyone’s different but I get a sharp pain when I drink certain things right at the abdomen below my chest. Water isn’t doing it. Feeling week and tired though. I just want to feel better and get over this scary hurdle. I’m more scared now than I was pre surgery !

sugar free popsicles, 6 weeks out, I can't survive without that frozen fix, they keep my lips from cracking, and I think they (the tropical ones) are a faithful source of Fluid.< /p>

Are you sipping small amounts really slowly? Don't take too big a gulp. I'm going into my third day after surgery and am a bit scared of the milk Protein Shakes but water is OK for me if I take it nice and slow.

So what did you swich to? I always preferred Premier Protein but the shelves are empty. Some flavors of Muscle Milk were okay, most of the others I have such a strong canned-milk taste it totally turned me off÷🍶

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
