I see many people starting with liquids then puréed food then normal food.
I am one week post operation and at hospital I had liquids broths and juice , however the diet I was given for when I go home and later was almost normal food, just what to take care how to start eating things slowly what to avoid what to check slowly if I can eat etc. I was quite happy with that but kept some liquids for the Breakfast and Snacks and only have soft food for main courses (I had boiled potatoes and boiled chicken, chicken Soup with rice and tuna so far) it goes great but I am worried if I do something very wrong. Should I see a dietitian or something?

Does your surgeon's office not have a dietician? I've always been amazed at the different diets doctors use. Like I'm 6 months post op and I"m still not able to have potatoes but I'v heard of people that in the beginning were told to eat mashed potatoes. Same goes for rice. I can have quinoa in low amounts.

Well they have and the gave me a full five pages instructions and everything but I read almost everyone having liquids and I was worrying about it a bit. However I have no issues with what I eat no pains and I go to the toilet normally...

I would listen to your doctor. Many people on here have great advice and I got lost in all the different theories and opinions. I got to wondering what should I do. I know my Dr office is well known in my area and has positive reviews and word of mouth, so I try to listen to the first. I'm sure your doctor's way has seemed successful for his/her patients so they keep using that method.

My wife and I were on a similar progression, starting with soft and mushy things along with the liquids from the hospital on out. The basic rule was to try new foods one at a time to test for tolerance - if they go down well (and don't come back up!) that's great; if there is a problem or it doesn't feel quite right, back off to something familiar and proven and try it again in a couple of weeks. Protein Drinks are usually a staple for a while as it is hard to get enough Protein in with real food for a while, and things tend to be on the liquid side to start and get progressively thicker and firmer as you experiment with your tolerances - strain out the chunks of chunky Soups, then next time mash up the chunks, then try them without mashing them. You just need to get a feel for how your stomach is working.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
