Ahill95 1 Posted October 15, 2018 Okay so it’s open enrollment time and I’m deciding if I should go to BCBS because they have a shorter medically supervised requirement. The only thing is if I change insurance I have to change PCP do you think I should stick with UHC or change to BCBS
johnsons13 359 Posted October 15, 2018 I almost changed insurance before my surgery because of the shorter wait time, but changing my primary wasn't worth it. Also I know that by me rushing things, I could miss out on a lot of what I needed to do to get ready mentally too. My first pcp in my journey refused to submit my weigh ins and say we had discussed losing weight. So I had to start my 6 months over and the new insurance didn't require 6 months. But, in the end, I'm happy I didn't switch and I let things happen in my Higher Powers time. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
abefroman329 704 Posted October 16, 2018 BCBS has shorter preauthorization times for everything, honestly. I needed preauthorization for a dental device to treat my sleep apnea as an alternative to a CPAP machine - it should have taken 4 to 6 weeks and it took 10 days. LadySin 404 Posted October 16, 2018 I work for BCBSM so I'm a bit biased. I don't know what state you're in, but in Michigan, we get **** done! I switched from Molina to BCBSM before I even started working for them because Molina had crazy requirements at the time. Particularly in length of the supervised visits. Switch girl switch! You can always change insurance back later and get your PCP back if that doctor means that much to you. 6 months is half a year. That's more than enough time to wrap your head around everything. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
