I agree with you. It wasn't the most supportive move.

Thank You. I just worry at 6 days out what is going to happen at 2 months out when she can start eating foods. It comes from a good place, I want her to succeed.

It wasn't meant in a literal sense but thanks for pointing it out. Maybe I should not have used such a "dramatic" word knowing some people would not understand my meaning. The point is she did great in the situation and should be congratulated for doing so. Her thread should not be a reason for others to come and be negative. You don't know her relationship and from what she said she was fine with saying it was ok to go to the place.

A lot of people may disagree but I seem to be in the same boat as you, it amazes me at how many people's SOs on here are totally unsupportive of their partner's wls/decision to lead a healthier life. Makes me relieved that I live alone and reminds me what I do and do not want to look for in a future partner. I remember reading a bit ago that we share over 80 percent of our meals with our future partner so you better make sure you choose the right one who is on the same page as you. I've been in that boat before, having a partner that eats **** food/makes poor food choices while you're trying to be healthy is major strain on the relationship and probably a lot of people's downfall when it comes to weight loss.

Totally agree! My bariatric support group meets every 2 weeks and the #1 breakdown is people saying their partners aren't supportive in their choices. Very interesting stat you posted!

First, good for you. But seriously....you aren't even 1 week post surgery and your husband "had" to take the kids and himself for fast food with you? Perhaps you could learn to say "no" next time he asks and start to show your family that their support is critical in this journey. Go home and fix a healthy snack or carry healthy snack options with you for the family. Sorry but I just found the post more shocking with you being 6 days out of surgery.

Thanks for responding. My husband is very supportive and it happened to be a situation that I’m sure I’m going to be in a lot whether it’s home or work. I’m glad I was able to overcome. This was not a negative situation and my family shouldn’t have to suffer because of my personal demons a.k.a food. If they occasionally want to indulge in chic-fil-a, which is the worst we do in fast food, then I have to be okay with that. If I was not okay I would’ve said no when my hubby asked and he would’ve eaten later without me or dropped me off. Either would’ve been inconvenient options so it is what it is. As for packing healthy Snacks it wasn’t that kind of party nor was that on my mind when getting 3 and 2 year old girls dressed and hair done to leave the house. My husband is my biggest fan when it comes to weight loss and this journey and I’m sorry if others don’t have a supportive spouse. That is simply not my case.

Perfect. Good to know. I was wondering if 4 pieces was too much.

@tmrtyty2018 Good for you for being strong willed in that situation and respecting the fact that your family does not have to abide by the same rules you do. It's going to be tough at times but that's what makes us strong when it comes to re-learning how to eat healthy and not making poor decisions about our food choices. I applaud you!!!!

Thank you! I agree completely!

A week after my surgery my wife and visiting daughter were whispering in the kitchen. Turns out they were debating whether to order Chinese food or have some Soup. It turns out that they didnt want to eat Chinese food in front of me right after my WLS. Honestly, I couldnt eat anything and watching them eat Chinese food didnt make a difference. I was drinking liquids at the time and was having a difficult time just drinking liquids.
So, having family eating in my presence days after my WLS didnt make a difference. It’s a different experience for everyone

Good to know. It is really hard to tell in posts. It gets SUPER hard when you'll actually be able to eat foods so we're just looking out for you. It is impressive that 6 days out you are out and about and as active as you are! Sounds like things are going great!

Oh I paid for it later. LOL. But I can’t sit still. I’m trying really hard not to get into super clean mode at home and just take it easy. Especially with staples still in. Will be so glad to get those out tomorrow.

Ive been thru Chick fil A for my son numerous times and sat next to my hubby with HUGE meals, its not bothering me one bit. You can have the strained chicken noodle Soup from them its low carbs fat and 9g Protein. Just strain it, the only issue I have with it is its high sodium. Glad you got thru to the other side when you went thru tho 😃

So my husband, who is as slim as they come, asked me nicely if I would mind if he did Chic-Fil-A for lunch while we were running errands. I didn’t want to be a drag so I told him sure. Now that is one of my favs. Their waffle fries and chic-fil-a sauce are AMAZING! So I sat and smiled and fought through all the feels while he and our toddlers ate fries and chicken nuggets and a grilled chicken sandwich while I sipped on my Water. It was probably the toughest moment so far Since the surgery. I have to say that I wasn’t that hungry so the hunger pains were minimal but I really wanted to just lick the salt off those fries. When the torture was over I felt like a new woman. I had conquered one of my previously fav fat girl places and I wasn’t angry. I was more like determined that I would never let food define me again. I thought “hey if I eat here in the future the grilled nuggets are an option”. I actually feel pretty darn good. Just thought I share.

That's awesome! Good job!:)

SIX DAYS OUT!!??! I have to give you some serious credit, I am strong willed but at 6 days out I couldn't even take the smell of them cooking here at home! I actually had to leave the house when the cooking was being done and come home after they were done. The dog and I would go on a hour or so drive and they would spray the house with febreeze before I made it home. It only lasted for about a week or so but it was HARD at least until I made it to the puree stage. Matter of fact the family ate out most of that week and I stayed home alone and "enjoyed" my greek yogurt or Protein Shake. I know I could not have done Chick-fil-a that soon! I would have been nibbling on a fry or nugget, or sipping on some tea!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
