Hello all I'm new here. I was just sleeved on 10/04. So far I am doing okay. I have a lot of gas pain and am a bit sore. My surgeon wants us to drink 1-1.5 bottles of clear Isopure a day and I can't even choke that stuff down without wanting to throw up. What else can I drink to get my Protein in?

And if it is. cut from the same bolt of cloth" as the others, you may need it half-and- half because it is strongly sweet. I have a 16 oz cup, 2/3 c Premier Protein fruity flavor, 2/3 c Minute Milk 15 fruit punch and if any room left, add cold bottled Water. And that way I don't gag on the sweetness of it all.🍶 And Protein 2 0 is $6,95 for a 4 pack at my Wally World, so same price pretty much as Protein Shakes.< /p>

For me the secret with Protein eaters is it has to be ice cold. Not icy, but really really cold. It took away that 'thick' whey feeling,

Protein2O is not that bad as far as sweet goes. It's not nearly as expensive as some of the others either.

I would switch to the shakes. I was never able to drink any Protein Water. Every time I tried I would start to gag and didn't think throwing up would be good for my stomach.

When I was where you are, I drank a lot of Herb Ox chicken broth. It was a lifesaver and I still drink it once in awhile. It's really good. And I never drank broth a day in my life before this surgery. No protein but maybe you can add some Protein Powder to it?

If it’s just a matter of flavor, sadly, you may just have to Water them down and drink a lot for a while.
Post op instructions vary and we all survive. At almost 5 months out, I can tell you that everyone is different and you may have to mildly tweak things (using great caution) depending on what your body can tolerate. Example: I came out of surgery unable to tolerate whey AT ALL! My body would not contain it. It immediately flushed out any whey I put in it. I think you get the picture. So all of my Isopure Waters and shakes became poison. I had to use Bone Broth and plant based Protein to meet my requirements until I could begin eating meat.< /p>

Many experience problems drinking Protein Shakes. I hated them. But in the beginning I drank them, three 16-ounce Protein shakes a day, in order to meet my protein requirements. You do not have to like protein shakes only tolerate them. There are many varieties of protein shakes available today. Experiment until you can find one you can tolerate.

I used Muscle Milk Light (Vanilla Creme) powder blended with Water and a half a banana. That worked for me. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, you might try premixed Isopure.

If you tried all the various varieties and still are unsuccessfully, then there is the fallback of fortified milk. 32 ounces of 1% milk fortified by adding 1 cup of dried milk provides 56 grams of protein. It also takes a dent out of meeting the Fluid requirements. Mix up a pitcher and drink a little throughout the day.

Without sufficient protein, your body will scavenge protein from other areas of your body, such as your muscles. Protein is extremely important after surgery as its job in the body is to build and maintain tissues including your body's major organs and skeletal muscles. Protein deficiency, when continued over a long period of time can cause a disease known as protein caloric malnutrition. Common symptoms are poor healing, fatigue, Hair loss and muscle wasting. Immediate post op, protein promotes healing of the staple line and incisions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
