Trouble transitioning from liquids to puréed food

Recommended Posts

I’m trying to transition from liquids to puréed food and feeling not so well today. Thinner purées like apple sauce are mostly alright but thicker foods like Greek yogurt can cause intense pain under my sternum because the air I swallow can’t work it’s way out. It’s breathtaking and stops me in my tracks. Is it too soon? I’ve reached out to my surgeon but in the meantime, do you have any input? I’m just worn out today and not feeling good at all.

OMG that's also where I feel the pain just before Precious Pouch starts to hurl everything back up.
That said I would thin your Greek yogurt down with skim milk, and work your way up to full strength. Your new digestive system is still pretty tender, take it slow and gentle, you will have a lot time to eat the thicker and regular foods. Your tummy is learning its way also.

Are you taking a daily PPI? I think I had a similar problem and when I took my prilosec it almost cleared up immediately

Sleever here but when I started I found I was either eating to quickly or taking bigger bites that I was not ready for.

I’ve definitely scaled back and it has helped. Huge relief! I do take a PPI, post operatively, and it hasn’t hurt the situation at least. Thanks guys!

Green Tealael calls her sleeve SAC, it stands for Small Anatomical Change, my Bari-bud Ellie just calls hers Baby, Baby WILL be I think 7 weeks old Wednesday, two weeks older than Precious Pouch but still tempermental. Not sure if that ever changes, saw someone today that still can't eat 🐡fish.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
