Mary Jane is Legal Where I Live

Recommended Posts

Marijuana is legal where I live. Yet broaching the topic with a doctor can be awkward. Where it's legal, you can pick strains for different things like nausea, pain, and not making you hungry. I don't smoke or eat it because I don't really like feeling stoned, but I wondered if anyone had success with it for nausea.

I think people do use it for nausea when going through chemo and people with HIV use it because the meds make them sick as well.

I know someone who used it for chemo nausea with great success. It gave them 6 extra months of life, because they were able to keep their strength up.

Not sure how it’d work for this. I know the zofran I had in hospital was pretty darn effective!

Cigarettes are also legal but smoking is not generally recommended

Plus one of the issues is that dope gives most people the munchies

That is true but there are many ways to get marijuana into your system without smoking it. Making tea or eating pot in food are popular ways.

That I was concerned about.

I was just re-reading my booklet from my doctor and it required quitting cigarettes and marijuana, which I didn't think about at the time, because I don't smoke either.

That being said, I would think it should be researched (there were many years of prohibition on researching marijuana) as a treatment for pain/nausea.

I have used it for nausea after my sleeve. But I can't over indulge--only a few hits. If I smoke more than that I get the munchies and because I am not nauseous and it dulls pain I have over eaten afterwards. Everything in moderation, including moderation. 😉

With any luck the pain and nausea you will encounter is bare minimum. I only had pain meds (hospital given) and it was a non narcotic-tordol. I didn't take any pain meds when I got released.
My nausea was almost non existent except during car rides. The patch they gave me lasted 3 days and I wore it 2, because it messed with my eyesight. But even that was OK.

Then just get cbd oil... it's non hallucinogenic and works just as well. I may be wrong, but it sounds like you're looking for validation to get high post surgery.

If I'm paying for surgery, I want the most clean, successful outcome.

That’s why I’m really concerned about using MJ post-surgery. Although I’ve noticed that I don’t puke after overeating now.

When I was a regular MJ user, I did find it helped with occasional nausea (say, after food poisoning), but I never had chronic nausea. I also highly doubt that’s how your surgeon wants you treating it.

I guess that’s the trouble. I know the indica strains help nausea, but also increase appetite. The sativa strains are more energizing, better for depression, etc.

Maybe if you do try- aim for some sativa and hopefully it won’t lead to sweatpants and cheatos. 😂

Actually, no. It's more of curiosity about the topic. I don't need validation to get high, and as I mentioned, I don't like the feeling of being stoned.

Thanks, I'm not going to. I was just interested in the topic and research potential.

I just read this article (from the "Magazine" part of this website) today. It suggests, maybe, don't use it. https://www.bariatricpal.com/magazine/614-marijuana-after-weight-loss-surgery/

Thanks! This validates the point I was trying to make. This is underreseached and could be helpful at some point in the future.

I'm going to stop following the thread because some comments seem overly personal and critical.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
