Hello everyone I’m 5 months post op. I’m starting to experience a lot of Hair loss. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on products or remedies I could use. Thanks

I use Biotin daily. Some say it doesn't work, but for me, I've been on it for 10 months now and my hair has never been more healthy, strong and thick. It's also great for your nails. Old school remedy is Gelatin capsules - I have family that swears by it.

I'm approaching 6 months out from surgery and have been fighting with Hair loss since about 3 months out.

I've been taking hair, Skin and Nails Vitamin supplements since before surgery. That included a healthy dose of Biotin. Have also taken collagen supplements (active ingredient in Gelatin that helps strengthen hair). No amount of vitamin/mineral supplements that I've taken has prevented or stopped the hair loss.

Nutritionists also stress adequate Protein intake. That also did not prevent or stop my hair loss.

I've tried scalp massage, essential oils, keratin treatments, special shampoos. Nothing has really made enough of a difference for me to endorse any one product or method.

I'm to the point where I can see my scalp and i have to be very strategic about hair styling. Last weekend, I had most of my length cut off to help and am now in a short bob versus shoulder-length hair. I even bought a "volumizing" wig at the recommendation of my hair stylist. Unfortunately, I think it only draws attention to my head and looks very fake.

I believe some people are pre-disposed to it more than others. Look up Tellogen Effluvium. It's hair loss as a result of a shock to the body or a stressful experience. Surgery and nutritional changes are often directly correlated.

Wish I had better news for you. I'm sure the supplements and protein don't hurt, but they did not stop my hair from falling out.

The biggest thing to understand is... by the time you start losing hair, it's already too late to stop it. You are losing it, because new hair is growing up from those follicles that went dormant due to the stress of the surgery.

Anything you do or take after surgery is going to help the new hair, not the old hair.
If you took things well before surgery, that *CAN* help, but it's not a guarantee. Some folks get lucky and don't lose any hair... others can do everything under the sun and still deal with Hair loss.< br />
And it's not really "hair loss" as you aren't losing hair exactly. We shed a certain percentage every day, what surgery can do is cause a much larger percentage of hair to go dormant than would normally, so when the regrowth cycle starts, the shedding that normally occurs is going to occur on a much larger scale.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
