I had my meeting with the nutritionist about the program for the pre-op liquid diet and post op diet. I had been mentally preparing myself for what I found online- I would graduated through stages weekly and would be able to introduce solid food after week four. Apparently my program does a six week progression- week one is Clear Liquids, week two is full liquids, and the next FOUR weeks after is pureed food. Something about that extra two weeks I wasn’t expecting has me feeling very frustrated. Does anyone else’s program do this?

I didn't eat solids until week 7 and to be honest, my sleeve wasn't ready for them until then. And yes, it did suck. I got so tired of pureed and soft foods. I know lots of programs are very different. I would talk to your surgeon and your NUT about your feelings. Sometimes surgeons will promote you to the next step early but definitely follow his/her instructions. It's for your own safety and health. Good luck and I promise it will pass and you won't think twice about it again!

I made French onion Soup today, I'm 5 days post op. Strained the onions, amazing. Did same with egg drop soup yesterday!! Get creative. My nut was very supportive of the ideas. Wish I had done it pre op.

Omg that is too funny. French onion soup strained of the onions is the first batch of soup I’m making for my pre op diet that starts Wednesday!

ETA: I am also looking at a Thai butternut squash and carrot soup but I’m probably going to email my nutritionist the recipe to be sure. I have a lot of chicken broth ideas but I’m holding off until clear liquids only for that.

WLS is a huge mind game. You have to be mentally prepared to adapt to whatever necessary at that moment. Don't let things that are out of your control frustrate you. Get your mindset to where you can adapt and try to stay positive about it. Good luck to you on this journey!!!

I am right there with you! My plan is 6 weeks post-op liquid diet. Then week 7 is puréed food and then week 8 is soft foods. It is difficult for sure! I am currently 4 week’s post-op. So 2 more weeks left for me at the liquid stage.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
