Kind of freaking out.

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on Monday in less than two days. Yesterday, friday I woke up with awful pain in my right foot that as of yet has not gone away. I'm really worried because I really can hardly walk to the bathroom at the moment that they might call off the surgery because of my bad foot.. does anyone know if this will be an issue? Really freaking out honestly.

Sounds like gout. It won't stop your surgery. I had an attack of gout and had surgery on my afflicted foot. They just said "it's not going to be a problem" and did the operation. You might go to a walk-in clinic or urgent care if they have one in your area and get it checked out. If it's gout, there is medicine that will immediately stop the attack.

It could be plantar fasciitis, feels terrible. But a Doctor would be best to sort it out.

Congrats in advance on your surgery!

I agree with the plantar fasciitis comment. Cortisone shot should help relieve the pain in no time. I would wait until after the surgery though.

I went to the er today.. they put an ace bandage on it, which I'm wearing now and said it might be a sprain.. no broken bones thankfully. She also said there were signs of degenerative disease from carrying all my weight but hopefully that will get better.. 11 1/2 hours till I'm in the hospital.. thanks all for the replies

Sounds more like a "Hey buddy you need to get this WLS now" situation. Just remember, you'll be given pain killers, those will help that foot feel better too.

Hope you feel better and good luck on your Surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
