Hi guys, after canceling two previous surgery dates out of fear of death and losing my partner, I finally did it! I'm super happy as I'm already 23lbs down in 3wks, but I'm so miserable because I want to eat and I can't!!! lol I'm still in my liquid phase, but I've cheated a few times and thankfully I don't have any nausea or dumping. Water is still hard to swollow even with sugar free mixes, the same goes for Soups. It almost feels like it all gets stuck in my throat and then I have to wait for it to slowly digest. Overall, my scars have healed and I'm super happy with my decision. My bf still thinks it's the easy way out, but I can tell he's enjoying my newly developing body. Thank you for all your support!

As far as your liquids go, you may have to experiment with temperatures. My new pouch changes its mind almost weekly ss to how hot or cold it wants something. Immediately post surgery it was room temp, then it wanted ice cold, back to room temp... there's a pattern here and my best advice is change it up, your body knows best.

Congratulations on a successful recovery, keep up the good work

I wonder why post-op instructions very so wildly. I was sleeved Sep 5, and I am cleared for cottage cheese, refried Beans, ricotta, oatmeal, certain fruits, chicken and fish.

Congrats on your surgery!! Try slowing down when you drink and/or taking smaller sips, consuming less. I had the same issue and figured out that I was taking in just a bit to much. By consuming less each time but sipping more often it worked out great. Good luck to you on your journey!!!

Wow, really?! When I went for my one week follow-up, the doctor told me I'll be able to eat "mushy" foods in two weeks, but the nurse told me in 30 days. Hmm, it definitely varies. Good to know!

Hmm, I'll have to try that. So far, I can only drink cold liquids. I eat ice and popsicles. I'll try room temp. To see how my body accepts it. Thanks! Congrats to you as well.

@Futuresleevie18

glad you made the wise decision to have the sleeve

many OP are sad/mad about not being able to eat good food anymore.

GET OVER IT:D

you will eventually be able to eat other foods that you miss and like.

Key to the sleeve and other surgeries - moderation. following the rules of

water, Protein, carbs etc.

you will hear the true statement on this board - that alllll docs and NUTS

are different/theories/comments food plans. Listen /use all the good comments/advice/experiences from OP - but at the end of the day ONLY

follow the directions/advice of your DOC. Like you said plans etc varies -

soooo NEVER/compare your stats to OP. Some OP loose diff amount of weight shorter/longer time. Don't worry - as long as you follow your plan - drinking/

protein etc - you'll be a success too!!

Many of us (me) will cheat a little one time or another. But at 3 weeks -

too early in the game for you to cheat (IMO) . 23 lb down is great -congrats

keep up the good work

kathy

And after being a bono fide September 5th person, an RNY, and being on Stage 2 and it's liquids all that time, today at 2:10pm I have an Exploratory EGD scheduled , Now NPO for the procedure, accept I might be in 🌵cactus-ville before this is over, but maybe a definite answer why my Precious pouch won't let me move on.😪❤😭

How much weight have you lost being delayed at stage 2 for so long?

Hi, I didn't really understand your message. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the lingo. RNY, EGD and NPO? Thanks though! I'm between 22 and 23 lbs down. For whatever reason it fluctuates and I've been stalled for the past THREE WEEKS!!! Omg, I'm so disappointed. Good luck to you!

Green Tealael, 37,5 pounds since the end of July & 22.5 since my surgery. Futuresleevie18
RNY-gasric bypass the 2nd most restrictive/ malabsob. of the gastric surgeries but considered the Gold Standard of them all. a For me, going on 73 it should be One and Done.
NPO- nothing by mouth, the original Latin "Nil Per Ostium"
EGD another long winded discription. Esophageal-gastric- duodenal, means while sedated/asleep they put a Fiber optic tube down, through my mouth, examine my swalloing tube, the esophagus, then my stomach, gastric then usually the upper small intestine, the duodenum. But in my case, unless you go around corners and back upstream you can't get to the duodenum anymore so it should be EDJ,because what is fastened to my stomach pouch is the second part of my small intestine, the jejunem. I had a portion of my small intestine bypassed, maybe 40 inches, shorter gastric track, fewer calories absorbed and I lose weight. Good for me, I have 2 arificial knees, had arthritis since 25, every pound of excess weight is 4 pounds of stress on your legs and knees, too late to save my natural knees but perhaps I won't have to have my hips replaced, suffer a ❤attack, cardiac runs in my family along with kidney, diabetes and lung, so now I can preserve the function until I die and no longer need them!👈😛👉

Wow, congrats on your weight loss! I can totally see why you did it. So our surgery was in the same day?! Cool, so we've lost just about the same amount. I was hoping to lose more than that, but I guess it's good to help with loose skin? But that's wonderful, you're a strong woman and I'm happy you've made the decision. My mom wasn't obese like me, but she had diabetes and ultimately passed from renal failure a few years ago. My sisters, who weren't as heavy as I was have diabetes and though they're 15 and 13 yrs my senior, loved hinting that I'll get it too. Well, I'm super happy that I didn't have it nor any other obesity related health problems beside my ankles. Omg, prior to surgery, walking 5.5 blocks was hell, and now I walk it like it's nobody's business. I am so happy that I had this surgery because I feel like I'm getting my mobility back, slowly, but surely I hope. Thanks for sharing with me! How are you feeling though? How's your eating? Do you have any issues?

Eating alas is the issue, I tried an one-inch chunk of ripe 🍌 Wednesday, a few minutes,to get it in and a hour-and- half urping, burping and vomiting. Not worth it, I am so tired of it all, strained, soups, broths, Protein skakes, Water and no calorie drinks. And my taste buds aren't the same either. When. I was shopping at Wal-Mart I mentioned to my Son I used to buy Lipton Diet citrus green tea at lunchtime, we bought some and I cannot abide the stuff now. Pitched one,in the trash today.
So I get discouraged, all the others that were our surgery twins are far,far ahead. I told,Tomkitten at first I wanted steak, either peas and new potatoes and pearl onion. Now what I would like, teriyaki fried tofu. Take my tofu, drain and dry it off and then saute it in Kikkomon soy sauce , mmaybe throw in some finely sliced green onion and sliced mushrooms, but just the tofu and teriyaki sauce would please me. And what I couldn't eat right away. I can store in my Rubbermaid orTupperware.
And am I lactose intolerant? Don't think So but I have thrown up Greek yogurt and I do cottage every time I have tried it, and I used to eat it all the time pre-surgery,.💦

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
