MargoCL - What do you get for your money? I didn't even know matchmakers were still a thing in this modern (internet) era!

I didn't use the service, For a $1000 +, I could think of better ways to use my money at the time.

But basically they were going to do the "searching" for me based off my likes / dislikes. What my hobbies were. Based on the cost, I wasn't willing to put my trust in a company to "find" me a suitor. Hence I went to online dating... had a few rocky years but was pretty much always dating and then 3 years ago, I tried Tinder and met my current love.

I don't think a matchmaker is in my future although I have some old school ideas about love. I just want to know where people are these days, museums? gyms? parks? I have tried it and know for certain that online is not for me, no disrespect to anyone.

I think I want too much lol

Besides online where did people meet their current partners?

Most everyone I know met their partner at school, at work, through a friend/family setting them up, or online. I wonder if anyone out here has ever connected? or for that matter how many of us are married (me, eg) or single?

I’m in the same boat! When you figure it out, please let me know! Lol

I met my ex online and two kids later and a nasty separation, I’m not sure I want to go down that path again 😩

Before internet, the best way to meet people with similar interests would be to participate in activities that you might be passionate about. If you're in to exercise you could join a gym or participate in marathons, etc. If you like to dance, cook, sew or are creative in other ways, you could take some classes for those things. I think it is important to find someone that is passionate about the same things as you are. The best way to meet someone like that is to do those things around other like-minded people. You're a beautiful woman, I'm sure you will have a lot to choose from. Good luck!

Dating is a numbers game, so IME, online is only option that is likely to get enough dates to eventually find someone compatible with to build a relationship.

I totally get not wanting to date online, but it will greatly diminish your odds :(

Tinder is what you make of it. When I was on there I met more people looking for relationships than those looking for hookups (not saying that they didn't exist). But I had a lot of great dates from Tinder before I met my BF. We spoke for about 2 weeks (because of our schedules) before we met in person and dated for 2 months before we became exclusive. If I hadn't tried Tinder, I wouldn't have met the great guy I did. Who shares the same religious beliefs, morals and activities as I do.

You're not.

Seriously... if you don't try online dating. Check out the app called "Meetup" - It's NOT a dating site, it's really about finding like minded people in group settings. The hardest part no matter how you choose to proceed is getting out there.

Apparently I'm single and should start thinking about dating again.

Where are people meeting each other these days?

What about volunteer work? Passion mixed with passion? :780_sparkling_heart:

Online dating is like online shopping for me... Often things come damaged and I just want my money back...😓

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
