Green1 16 Posted September 27, 2018 I was just wondering if this is a normal thing people experience with a gastric sleeve. I've been having cramping in the spine area, it feels very rigid and painful. Could this be due to a pinched nerve or some sort of spinal disk thing? Has this happened to anyone? I was told your not supposed to be in any pain with this type of stomach surgery. It could be muscle strain (and spasms) or sciatic nerve irritation. Laying in a prone position or any of the movements made to adjust you during surgery could have caused it. However, anecdotally, I noticed that the more weight I lost the less compression of my spine and it caused back pain for me. I had to workout (stretch and strength training) to target specific muscle groups to feel better and work on proper posture... lzucks 232 Posted September 27, 2018 I never have back pain but I did have it a few weeks after surgery. Especially when sitting on bleachers or with no back support. I've had it for a while it seems, but because of all the visceral fat the arthritis was covered and insulated, protected from the nerves. Now with all the fat loss... I'm now dealing with the pain from it. Talk to your PCP and maybe get it xray'd. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
