Sunday reflection :
I cannot wait to be a healthier version of myself.
I cannot wait to have more energy.
I cannot wait to walk into a room and not tug on my clothes constantly.
I cannot wait to have options for clothes shopping
I cannot wait to not look at a chair and wonder if it will buckle under my weight.
I cannot wait to get on a plane and not immediately start sweating in fear that the buckle won’t close.
I cannot wait to be proud of my progress.
I cannot wait to be free of this weight that is literally holding me down.

I’ve been working through the process of having this surgery since February- and I cannot wait to get this done !

Happy Sunday 😊

I think I am more excited than scared at this point, but I still have my moments of being scared too... I just want everything to go well.

Hi Everyone.... this Saturday marked the official 30 days out for surgery! I did my final goodbyes to anything junk related? I have continued to increase my walks and lowered my caffeine intake (just a little lol) so now per nutrition I am low carbs and lean protein... I am try to do the timing of what food should look like.... next week I am going to add in shakes for two meals to get ready for the liquid preop prep... how is everyone else... what are your goals for this week?

And teach yourself to take in plenty fluids, 64 oz if you can, practice chewing each, bite of food. down v to mooshie- ness. official term is applesauce consistency but mooshie to me means more, learn to sip instead of gulp and chug, slow down the speed you eat at, all of these will help post-surgery, so implant them in your memory bank! And remind yourself I CAN DO THIS AND I WILL BE FINE and almost 100% certain YOU will be!

I’m hoping for a November date; have my last nutrition appt today. Then just breathe while the insurance company takes their time. I’m work in an education law office, so hoping to hit that thanksgiving break. Not nervous about surgery, but with about 8 previous abdominal surgeries, a bit nervous about scar tissue. November is my birthday, hoping to gift myself with a brighter, chronic-pain free future.

I’m so happy to hear you are starting this process too! I also started walking, drinking Water and cut out all caffeine. I sure hope I start to love these premiere drinks more than I do right now.. it’s a process?!
For some reason, I’m. It scared at all for the surgery.. but I’m terrified I will not lose or gain a few months after.. like waking up in cold sweats over it.. I’ve never done this before.. anyone else struggling with some aspect of the surgery?

100% I can relate to the fear of it not working, for me I feel like a good portion of my life has been dieting... I struggled for many years with infertility and I have PCOS and Ehlers danlos. All of those years (6) I took so so many hormones to be able to get pregnant, and afterwards my body is a mess... nothing has worked Atkins, ww, boot camp... etc... my PCOS is out of control and my weight is out of control and I have been in a cycle of break a leg casted for 10 months pack on weight... I could go on and on, and did go on and on at nutrition to the point of tears, there is nothing about this journey from where we have to where we are going that has been easy. She was great though and supportive and said it was ok to be afraid and she has had others in my shoes and it has worked, it has helped them, on here I have found so many that have similar shoes and it is working for them as well. I read the sleeved life written by a patient and it really gave me a little easier of a perspective... I think making the changes already is going to help us... Nothing we have done to this point has been this different though right so I am choosing to believe that this will work.

Also I think it was brave to mention the fear! I think it is hard to talk about and face!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
