I had mine done this morning. Definitely in more pain than I thought I would be in. This gas pain is no joke!

As an abdominal surgery veteran, about 7-8, the trick to gas relief is a hug pillow or blanket. You lay it across the abdominal to provide support for sneezing, coughing, laughing. To relieve gas in bed, lay it across the abdomen and put your hands on top for support, press your heels into the mattress, lifting the buttocks up. Used to be you could not go home until you passed gas.

Each day gets a bit better will say I was able to get 60 Fluid ounces in today and was shocked how hard it was... did two Protein Shakes so I got my 60 Protein in but each shake took about and hour and a half to get in but I was grateful I had purchased a wide mouth 10ounce hydro cell cup because it kept the shake cool the entire time... slow sips! Went for a few walks but then the weather turned and laps around the house were not the greatest but still helped! Only taking a pain pill at night which helps me to get comfortable! I was so excited to read how everyone is doing! I love how it really seems to be the gas struggle for us all! Anyone hungry? Just curious I am not at all like even a little I think it is early but I am just surprised before surgery I was hungry I just wanted a piece of chicken lol but now nothing...

I started with hunger pains on day 6, hopefully they will stop soon. I do fill up often before I am done with each meal. I am still not quite to the 60 fl ounce mark yet, maybe tomorrow. I am able to get the 60 Protein in with Peanut Butter powder added to each shake, otherwise, I would be closer to 50. Everything tastes so sweet, YUCK

I had my gastric sleeve November 5th. Having major back pain today. Anyone else experiencing this? I am finding it very hard to get my Protein in, I can only eat an ounce or so at a time. Look forward to connecting with others.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
