November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow November sleevers, remember me? I've been MIA since my surgery but have been thinking of you guys, especially my date twins (11/6). Last year was good in terms of my getting the surgery but was rough because I was grieving the loss of my dad and then a close friend right before Christmas. Grief and trying to eat healthy are not a good combo but I have been pushing on and still am losing at a good pace (60 pounds so far) especially since I don't really exercise though I am moving more and love the energy surges I have been having.

I haven't been on here since right before my surgery but everyone seems to be doing well:)

Greetings fellow November 2018 sleevers. I haven't checked in here in ages but today was my 3 month check up. So far, I'm down 25.6lbs since surgery which is PAINFULLY slow, but steady.

I try not to stress over the scale even though I'm jealous of other people's progress. That said, I can't afford clothes often enough to keep up with rapid weight loss, so it's really a silver lining.

My mood is great, my health is excellent, and in general I feel like I'm rocking this weight loss thing.

That is so great to hear! I am also a crazy slow loser so your not alone! Slow and steady! I was a lower BMI so I expected to be slower loosing.
I am only down 32 pounds since surgery (14 weeks)
but I will take it!

Hello, keep it up slow and steady wins the race. I am a slow loser also . I will be 3 months out next week and I am about 27 pounds some time I get frustrated not losing faster but I know it is not a race. I started at a lower bmi also. I reed it is the slower when you start with a low bmi and I find that to be true.

Hi Fellow November Sleevers!

I hope you are all doing well on your journey and are starting to enjoy some of the super fun non-scale victories there are with losing weight!! I had my favorite #nsv yet this weekend when I finally felt confident enough to jump on the back of my boyfriend's motorcycle! I have always been far too self-conscious to do so, thinking I'd look like Miss Piggy on the back of that bike! But I am starting to feel great about myself and decided to push past my fear and just go for it!! It was THE MOST FUN!

I hope you all are discovering new things and enjoying life in new ways too!!!

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to check in an see how everyone is doing? things here have been fabulous, I can't believe that amount of energy I have, keeping up with my toddler is so easy now, accomplished my first flight since surgery I was not in need of a belt extender, the tray flipped down with room to spare, I was able to cross my legs and sat in the middle next to my husband and toddler and no problems... I am getting between 800- 1000 calories a day and between 50 and 60 grams of Protein a day... meeting Water goal, and continuing my Vitamins, I am not going to a gym currently but I do walk everyday, and use the elliptical in the basement. I have currently lost 86 lbs altogether since November, meal planning and structure has become easier... logging is key for me. I have noticed my body having a pattern of losing about 2lbs a week some weeks more some weeks 1lb.... I look at it as a win all around. I hope everyone is doing well!!

That sounds awesome you sound like you are doing amazing!
I am doing good except I can't seem to shake this heartburn and it's really got me concerned.
I never had an issue pre op and I get it daily now.
I am scared to be on a PPI long term.
Anyone else having issues with heartburn? [emoji20]

I’m also having a hard time with heartburn, I have to take Prilosec twice a day, but I was told it could be up to 6 months before it starts to subside and I notice if I forget to take it twice a day it doesn’t affect me so I’m hoping that’s a sign that it’s easing?!

Oh I definitely hope so 🤞
The past 2 weeks I have been trying to ween off my pantoprozole and have switched to taking pepcid (famotidine) everyday to combat hyperacidity. It is much less powerful and seems to be working so I am also hoping it gets better also.
Just scares me because GERD is serious and you don't want to mess with Barrett's esophagus, and revision is usually the only definite fix. [emoji20]
Everyone I have talked to says give it time but I am such a worry wart.
My surgeon didn't seem concerned if the PPI was controlling it but it just isn't something I want to take long term.

I just sent in a request for the FB group. So far I am down a little over 80 lbs and my husband is down 110 lbs. (He ended up having a stricture that required balloon inflation twice) I have more energy and I'm down another dress size. :)

Hi paddyski! Congrats on all of your success! I don't come on here much (I used to come on a few times a day and now it's maybe once a month) and I don't do FB (I know-I'm weird) or else I would join you all on the FB page. Good luck and I hope to see you on these forums:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
