Hey ladies! 7 days out.. the last two days were hell!!! Bother emotional and physical. Extremely nauseous, throwing up, stomach aches. Seems like I am only able to eat ice chips and some sips of Water and Powerade. Def not even going to try the Protein, just thinking about it makes me gag! I cannot smell any food now or look at it without wanting to puke! And every time I sip my Water I feel these spasms in my tummy! EVERY TIME! Incision pain is okay now, only my main one still hurts and is a bit sore. But I can deal with that. I see my surgeon on the 10th for my 2 week follow up and I’m hoping to get some good news. Hope everyone is having a better day! This is all so insane, we made a life changing decision and it’s not easy. But we got this!

Yes we have got this! Hopefully you will get some relief when you see your surgeon. Are you on anti nausea meds? My surgeon told me to call in if I needed them. Maybe that could help.

I'm a little disheartened. I had surgery 11/26, so I'm 11 days post op now. At 3 days post op, I hit a stall, and the scale hasn't budged since. Eating very little (often struggle to get past 300 cals a day, but I'm working on it), can't drink Protein Shakes because they nauseate me, but I've been getting in about 40g of Protein a day and ~50ish oz of Water. I asked my doc if I could eat scrambled eggs, and thank god he said yes lol so that's made me feel human again. Has anyone else stalled like this?

Bugs me cause I thought the first month after surgery you're supposed to lose 20-30 lbs; instead, I've lost 6 and regained 2 of them.

One of the things that I'm noticing is extremes. The extreme ways have cause us to eat in extreme....gain weight in extreme and now we want to lose weight in extreme. It's not healthy. How much weight did you really think your gonna lose in 11 days. Relax. It will happen. Its not your body that has to change but your mind. And me too. I want it gone too. But I'm not 85 lbs overweight overnight. Remember WLS is a tool not a magic wand

Take things slow...what else are you watching besides the scale? How are you treating u? One if the things that I know that I needed was to work in the issues underlying my weight. I decided on that table that I was going to treat me better.

Sorry if I'm coming across hard...but we have to understand what we are truly working on and attempting to change. Without acknowledgement there is no change.

Just my opinion, but I think you might try to eat a bit more and get more Protein. Your body may think it's starving and be clinging to every calorie. But your surgery was so recent, your body may just be trying to figure out what's going on. Maybe a different brand of shake or protein Water?

I am 16 days post op. Sleeved on the 22nd of November.
I’m doing well so far. I’ve gone back to work at 11 days post op. I feel tired a lot of the time. my biggest struggle is meeting my Water requirements. I am able to drink around 1 liter (34 oz) of water. It makes me feel really bad and nauseated. I take around 50 grams of Protein every day. My surgeon has OKed me for soft foods so I’ve been having scrambled eggs, soft fish and chicken. I have not really been feeling the restriction, which SCARES me... what does “full” feel like??? and how does hungry feel because all i feel is extreme nausea and a little dizziness.
any tips on drinking enough water without feeling sick?
tips on how to pace yourself while eating soft foods?

General question for the group did anyone have heartburn and a hiatal hernia before surgery? Did you dr fix it during and did it resolve your heartburn after? I am scheduled for 12/21 and just nervous that I will have the heartburn worse after surgery. I love reading all of your stories it sounds like everyone is doing great!

Hi! Yes I do have some anti nausea meds, but am worried I’d be taking them every 6 hours lol. I have Isopure Protein Powder, unflavored. But just thinking of everything else makes me nauseous. 😭

I was sleeved on 11/1. I had both. Doc fixed my hiatel hernia. I only have heartburn if I eat too much. I have learned very quickly not to eat too much lol

Today is my one-month sleeve-a-versary, and I have lost nearly 18lbs., which is nothing short of miraculous for someone who is 5 ft. tall, middle-aged and has PCOS. The most I've ever been able to lose in a month was 10lbs. and that was with intense efforts. I lost 20lbs. before surgery so I am starting to see the loss, especially in my face. I ordered 2 sweatshirts in my usual 2x that arrived today, and they are both huge and need to be sent back. I am overjoyed. It is a lot easier to make better choices when you see measurable progress so quickly. I am really shocked, I was expecting maybe 12-13lbs. the first month at most. I am so grateful to my surgeon. I had a single incision sleeve done through my belly button and I don't even have a single scar. I did have a fair amount of pain at first, probably because all the pulling and stretching was done through one incision, but it was manageable and didn't last too long, and the nurses in the hospital were so wonderful. Protein is still a struggle and Water is a bigger struggle, but I am getting there. Constipation has been my worst problem...really bad at times, but I have found that Milk of Magnesia works a million times better than Colace or Miralax, so that is less of an issue sometimes. I hope that you all enjoy the good healing and loss that I have so far.

Water is really hard for me too. I find it is easier when cool, but not ice cold. Some people say Crytal Lite and SF Gatorade goes down easier, but artificial sweeteners make me want to hurl now. Bariatric, high Protein SF hot cocoa and Decaf helps me. I wish I liked tea, but I hate it. Try warm liquid, it goes down easier for me. Wonton broth (no wontons) goes down super smoothly. As for feeling full, my NUT says you don't usually feel it in your stomach. It can be a tightness in the chest (I feel this first), hiccups (I know I need to not take another bite at this point) or even a sneeze (I haven't experienced this). I feel pretty tired too, I think that will last a long time. Good luck in your recovery!

when were you sleeved?
I don’t live in the states, we don’t have SF gatorade or crystal lite where I live but I shall look for substitutes. I don’t experience the chest tightness when i’m full, I just start to feel a bit nauseated and that’s when I stop. but when i think about it, it seems like I can have a few more bites of food so i’m thinking this may not really be my cue to stop... i’m too scared to find out though haha.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
