Suck on a sugar free tropical popsicle, whole lot tastier and more fun than licking a carrot,or kissing a stalk of celery.

You’re right... haha. sugar free popsicles are the best treat right now. Especially with an irritated throat.

How long have you all been on pain meds? I had my surgery on 11/28, and I still need my Percocet at least a couple of times a day. I’m trying to stretch it out so I can get off this med, I went 13 hours last night and I can sleep ok, but boy it really helps with feeling kinda normal during the day.

I only took my pain meds one time. Tylenol did the trick for me.

Pain was unbearable first few days. I’m on Day 3 and now subsided a bit. Only real pain is on my largest incision. Which is normal, considering what was yanked out of it! Tylenol helps and when I’m ready for bed time I take a stonger med my doctor prescribed. Soon there will be no pain and we can stop taking them. Plus I’ve had this annoying cough, which is killer to my wounds.

Yes and no, your body may be starting to go into fat-burning mode. KETOSIS STINKS, IN THEORY AND IN PRACTICE! My own , not so much bad breath as my armpits, B.O. my armpits smell like rotting onions, keep cleaning, baking soda, ani-persp/deodorants, even wiping down with 90% rubbing alcohol, in case it was bacterium. Family says they smell NOTHING but Baby I Do!👿😕👿

I was also sleeved on the 28th and I have been able to drop down to using the pain meds in the evening only. I feel minimal pain most of the day, but trying to get in the bed in the evening is painful. I think I will try to just use Tylenol this evening to see if that can settle the pain.

My day 16-19: I am the fine winner if the flu... good times right after surgery! I guess the upside to having 103 fever in the ER after surgery is that you definitely get bumped to the top of the list to get seen! ( some people had been waiting 5-6 hours at the hospital)

Oh no!!! Glad you were seen quickly, tho. You didn't need to sit there for 6 hours after just having surgery.

Surgery was 11/27, and I was released at noon the next day. It's been over 24 hours that I have just been using occasional tylenol. Drinking doesn't hurt, and my sips don't have to be that small. I feel like I've got it easy compared to some of you. I've been able to meet my Fluid and Protein goals with no problem. I hope this isn't the calm before the storm. I'm finally below the weight I was on surgery day - I gained 7 lbs of fluid. I go in for my 1 week visit on Tuesday.

I was done on the 27th and went home noon on the 28th. I needed the dilaudid up until bedtime on the 29th. After that it's been tylenol 2-3 times a day. But I have fibromyalgia, so I'm accustomed to a constant low level of pain that i don't take anything for. If you're not used to being in pain, you need the meds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
