Hi Everyone end of the week check in wanted to see how everyone is feeling someone already bought up but we are 4 weeks away!!! I met with nutrition and set some pre-surgery goals all of them felt achievable. We reviewed the pre- op diet which will start officially on 10/24 for me! I have increased my walking to 30 minutes a day... next week I am going to set some pre portioned out foods and my shakes will come in. I have started reading cookbooks for gastric sleeve, also ordered a food processor, and strainer, and finally upped my Water intake. How is everyone feeling?

My insurance covers either 80% or 85% of the total cost so I have been able to get an idea of what I will owe but I am hoping that somehow my insurance company will say, "Just kidding-we'll cover it all" :) Oh well, I think I'll get the amount when I meet with the surgeon in 2 weeks

Hi Paddyski! I just went to a Pre-op class last night and it's feeling more real to me now and more scary too since there was a lot of discussion about the hospital and avoiding complications after surgery. So now I am feeling a little more scared but I just keep reminding myself that I am meant to have this surgery and it'll be worth it

I've been trying to eliminate some things from my diet (caffeine- and the people around me can tell) this week in preparation. I've got to increase my exercise!! My preop appts should be coming up soon. My family has a Disney Trip planned for the last week of Oct- I feel like I'm gonna have to start alllll over on the caffeine;) The day after Disney I start my liquid diet.

I've got a little bit longer than the rest of you since I'm right by Thanksgiving, but I already ordered the sample pack of Syntrax Nectar flavors so I can try them out and see what ones I like the best before my liquid diet, because it's too pricey to get big tubs of each of them! I've already tried some of the Premier Protein and that's a good one, too. Trying to get ready ahead of time so it won't but such a shock. My final pre-op meeting isn't until Nov 9, but my surgery was already approved! Now I'm just waiting on FMLA paperwork to come back in for work.

I am dreading the caffeine withdrawal so I am putting it off until I need to when I start my 2 week pre-op diet. Trips are always harder to be good with all of the extra food temptation but at least you will still be able to eat while you are in Disney. Have a great trip! :)

that is soooo good Disney will kick your exercise levels right up! so that is awesome! I too am dreading the caffeine withdrawl, I think that will be the thing I hold onto the longest kudos to you for doing that already!!! I really also must say Disney can lend itself to eating well they have some many options and the heat always makes me not want to eat! Have a blast!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
