Congrats on getting your date! I can't offer much advice since I just got my date (November 6th) a few weeks ago myself but I can recommend staying on these forums because they are helpful and supportive:),

Congratulations!! My biggest advice is just to follow all of your surgeons instructions. If they say two weeks of liquid, do it... don't cheat with one bite of something etc. You'll be great! This surgery has been the best thing I ever did for myself and my health. I feel like the time leading up to the surgery, all the appointments, deciding which surgery was the best for me, getting insurance approval, to me that was the hard part.

Know that weight loss stalls happen and that its natural. Prepare mentally for it. The first one hits almost everyone at 3 weeks out. The first weeks after surgery your body is adjusting and some people even gain a few pounds. You wont have done anything wrong and there is nothing you need to do to "fix" it. Just follow your surgeons instructions and try to stay off the scale but once a week. Take measurements often so you have something else to measure yourself by than the scale.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
