Spellbound 48 Posted September 26, 2018 Hi everyone, I keep reading horror stories about Sleevers past 5 or 10 years. I’m wondering if there are any of veteran sleevers with no revisions, major miserable side effects, issues, weight gain from expanded sleeve, that are still thriving and happy with their choice? I’m a week post op and everyone’s horror stories are causing me major regrets and fear.

Foxbins 625 Posted September 27, 2018 Seven and a half years out. No revision, no major miserable side effects, no issues, no permanent weight gain. I had to have my gallbladder removed a year after my sleeve and I have GERD that I take a PPI for. I lost 100 lbs and gained five over the first two years. Stable at 137 since except for a 7 lb gain last year due to too many Frappicinos. The seven pounds are gone now. I would have sleeve surgery again in a second. I am skinny and happy. 5 FluffyChix, ProudGrammy, Wanda247 and 2 others reacted to this
TexasMommy80 297 Posted September 27, 2018 I have hardly ever heard of complications that late. I know gerd and leaks happen, but you usually know you have those fairly soon. In fact, my surgeon prefers the sleeve for the long term lack of complications involved.Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app 3 Wanda247, Spellbound and FluffyChix reacted to this

BUT there are many OP that write how happy they are unfortunately, the bad stories frequently stick/stand out to OP. OP don't always write about the good - many more OP write their bad situations to vent/tell their stories/look for advice - and just want a couple of ears to listen to them. In my case, as a 6+ year GOAL/vet - life with my weight goes terrific. NEVER had any issues. no revision Fluctuate/maintain - but all is good. 105 lbs down I had my sleeve one month before i was 58 years OLD. Now i'm 64 years YOUNG. As most OP - I wish i had my surgery years earlier. Don't dwell on the bad stories - sooooo many people are happy and thriving good luck to you - follow the rules - you'll be successful/happy too kathy 3 Spellbound, DMJC and Neversaynever reacted to this
Spellbound 48 Posted September 29, 2018 Thank you for sharing. I am trying to get my hydration right. I understand people needing to share the difficult. Just wondered if that was a definite or if there were others with more success, like you. And actually, I’d never heard some of these really bad experiences until after my procedure (last week) so I was getting frightened, emailing my docs daily, and planning for the worst. I know I may have negative experiences too in the future that I’ll want to share for support - but was wondering if it turns out bad for everyone eventually. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Yes to the rules- at 10 days out I am trying to find the best ways to hydrate. QQ: Do you still eat really really small meals? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
