Procedure Code for Fills

Recommended Posts

Aloha All,

I don't know if this is universal or not, but can anyone tell me what the procedure code is for fills? I'm trying to find out if my insurance covers the fills, but they said they needed a procedure code. I'm reluctant to ask my doctors office because they want us to pay for the procedure out of pocket, but DANG, if it's covered by insurance we shouldn't have to pay it out of pocket.

Have a great holiday weekend !!!!

I can tell you that as far as I know no insurance will cover the fills. My insurance covered almost 90% of the original surgery- but nothing on the fills. The surgery center and doctor where i had mine done, all say that they have not found an insurance that pays for the fills.

Really:omg:, can your doctors charge it as part of the post-op visit? That's crazy that you have to pay for the fills out of pocket. I wonder if that applies for fills at those fill center or even with your surgeon? Does that mean all insurance policies don't cover the fills? How much does a fill cost?

Thanks.

Love

I'm having surgery January 7th

My doctor charges $250, but will let you come for adjustments for free within the month of the fill. It's going to get pretty expensive as most don't feel good restriction until the 3rd fill (at least that's what I've been reading). I do know that some insurances covers fills like Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

I have had 3 fills so far and go for my 4th Monday and have not paid anything not even the office visit. I think it was all billed to the insurance company as part of the surgery. If I remember correctly I can get the fills for a year. Im going to remember to ask about it but I hope that by time my year is up I will be at my goal and sweet spot so that i wont need to go to often.

I have Fed blue sheild/blue cross and they denied payment for the fills. My doc does not charge for the fills, but have to pay $100 to the surgery center for the fluroscope use during the fill.

My BCBS pays for my fills .....all I have to pay is the co-pay. I have no idea how that office codes it, though.

My fills are covered for the first 90 days on Aetna. Then I pay $175 for a fill. I don't know if my insurance covers them after that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
