I got my approval letter from the insurance company today. I'm so happy! I meet with the surgeon for pre-op on December 6th. I'll find out then if I get my gall bladder out then too. My lap band surgery is scheduled for December 17th.

BCBS MA rocks! I heard all kinds of horro stories about people having to fight to get approved and I was ready for battle. I had all KINDS of backup ready to send them when they denied me. But I didn't need anything. They approved me on the first shot, with only a half page letter from the surgeon.

My surgery in Nov 12. I'm getting really nervous and am completely paranoid about catching a cold in the next few days. It seems like EVERYONE has one.

I'm having my surgery with Dr. Lautz at the Brighams and Woman's Hospital in Boston. I also thought that I would get denied first, even thought the Drs. secretary said that I would not have a problem. Yippie for me. I'm nervous about the surgery, well not so much about the surgery, but the recovery process and the liquid diet.< /p>

I had my surgery on 11/6/07 with Dr. Lautz. He is fantastic, I was not nervous at all. I am feeling pretty good. I can't do a whole lot without getting tired but for the most part my surgery was uneventful. Dr. Lautz is fantastic, we visits with you prior to surgery and wants to answer any questions that you have. I just love him. He also does about 50% of the weight-loss surgeries; which is why I chose him. You are great hands. Don't worry this is the beginning of the rest of your life.

A friend of mine had her surgery with Dr. Lautz as well about two years ago. She looks fantastic! She told me lots of great things about him as well as my primary doctor. What was your experience the day after the surgery?

Not bad. I was a little naseauted when I moved around but they gave me something for that and it helped. I am only sore right now and have lots of gas. I knew that I would so it is a wait to escape kind of thing. You shouldn't experience any problems. They do give you a pain pump so if you are in pain you have control over it. I found I did not use it much but when I was in real pain it was good know it was there. Best wishes with your surgery, you are in good hands.

Hi all! I just wanted to say that the company I work for is switching from United Health Care to BCBS of Alabama effecitve Jan 1, 2008. I spoke in length with the representative sent to our company from BCBSAL regarding Bariatric surgery and asked specifically about lapband. He told me that it is an APPROVED surgery as long as the patient meets the requirements. I am attending a seminar on Nov 17 and hope to have my official consultation sometime after Jan 1, 2008 and hope to schedule surgery sometimes soon after that.

BCBS is the best. In all the years I've been working, I've always had BCBS. I've never had a problem with them. Let us know how you make out when the time comes. Take Care.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
