Unfill or ride it out?

Recommended Posts

Hey there guys, just had another fill today and he decided to be a little agressive as I still havent lost any weight after 9 months.

Put another 1ml in making total of 6.5ml, got home and cant even drink Water. Tried to drink warm tea and had really bad pains like something was stuck then it came back up again.

He said to come back if I needed adjustment (he is only in town today and tomorrow) but I know from experience that my last fill (which was not this tight) wore off after a couple of weeks.

Do you think I should go back or will it settle down as the hours go on?

Thanks

I hate to say it but you probably need an unfill. I tried to ride mine out and have been paying for it for almost a month. If you get too dehydrated to get even tighter.

Hmmmm, you got a 1ml fill (he was being "a little aggressive")

it's never felt this tight before,

it took a while for it to loosen up the last time when it felt a bit tight,

you can't drink Water,

you can't even keep down warm tea,

and you are asking if you need an unfill???????

Yep, I think so.

Thanks mbanja and faithmd, I got an unfill of .5 today and it made all the difference. I don't think i realised how tight i was until he took that little bit out. Gee it felt so nice to actually drink!!!

I am glad you are feeling better it is amazing how even as little as .1 cc can be the difference between too tight and your sweet spot, my suggestion is to do your fills small at a time, that is if you don't have to pay for them. I am a self pay and want to get the maximum for my money but I really paid for it on my second fill. Being too tight is awful!!!

My doc uses flouro for my fills and I still got too tight this last fill and had to have an unfill 3 weeks later.

Mine didnt really affect me for over a week.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
