genevasc 3 Posted September 23, 2018 Why don’t the weight loss center tell you upfront how much you will how to pay out of pocket why wait and tell me I need to pay 891.00 2 days before surgery
Hop_Scotch 1,633 Posted September 23, 2018 That is frustrating! Sounds like an honest omission (doesn't happen very often) or just generally bad administration (happens to most patients).
iattcom 96 Posted September 23, 2018 To give your insurance the chance to catch-up with all of the payments you may have made to other balances? I am only guessing here as I am in the same spot and I have the same issue with my hospital. I have to go and pay for additional supplies for my c-pap machine because I have not met the deductible on my insurance yet. I plan to bring that bill with me to the hospital to get the hospital bill reduced.
Auroragirl4489 88 Posted September 23, 2018 Most hospitals check with your insurance a day or so before surgery for the most up to date info. Is this your deductible or out of pocket max? I’m sorry this is happening to you.
macadamia 591 Posted September 23, 2018 Mine hit me up for $350 at my first appointment to cover the exercise physiologist, which I did not know about and was kind of mad, but paid it (of course). Then, right before I was approved by insurance, I saw a bill from them for $1400. I've not called my insurance company yet, I plan to do that this week, to see if this is just because of billing and paying time lag by the insurance company. I'm hoping so, because I don't have $1400... 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

allyb15 8 Posted September 24, 2018 I have paid my Surgeon $790(before my first appt with him) and the hospital called and said I would have to pay them $1300, 10 days before surgery... my date is October 15th. The payments will satisfy my Out-Of-Pocket(OOP) expense with my insurance for the year. Once OOP is met, insurance will pay 100% of my medical expenses... for the remainder of this year Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Auroragirl4489 reacted to this
