Taking Tylenol in pill form

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I’m 6 weeks post op with the sleeve. My last visit was at 2 weeks post op and I remember back then he still told me to take my medicine crushed/open capsule and drink pellets. I forgot to ask him when I can start taking regular pills again.

I have a MAJOR headache and really don’t wanna take children’s Tylenol it’s so sweet and makes me even more nauseous. When did everyone start taking pills Tylenol tablets specifically post surgery? And please give me the doctors recommendation. Like when was it okay by the doctor. Doctors office is closed right now and I can’t call.

Thanks in advance.

Three weeks out I was allowed to transition back to pills, not chewies or crushed.

I was taking large Vitamins by 4 weeks. I’m sure you’re fine.

If you are getting a lot of headaches make sure you’re drinking enough fluids, double check that you’re getting enough . Being dehydrated can cause headaches. I had surgery one week ago and was having headaches which I never ever have anymore, probably due to the fact that I wasn’t drinking large amounts as I normally did pre-surgery.

My dr's gave the OK at 2 weeks out to take full pills. This came when I specifically asked about Vitamins.

I still open capsules because I found it works better. Otherwise I swallow all my pills

I was told I could swallow pills right away as long as they were no larger than the size of the bed of your pinkie nail, otherwise cut them in half. The only chewables I have to take are multi's, Iron, Calcium and B12. And that's because of absorption. I started swallowing my meds 2 at a time but now I'm back to taking them all at once.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
