What are your favorite WLS friendly grab and go foods

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for people's recommendations of their favorite ready-to-eat foods they've found post surgery that are friendly for your new lifestyle.

For instance, I just saw an ad for a brand of frozen pizzas, enchiladas, and Breakfast sandwiches called RealGood that have 25G Protein and 4G carbs per serving and I thought that looked great.

I read somewhere on another forum but forgot to write it down some special cracker that a lot of people like, etc.

I'm not really seeking recipes (because I'm super comfy with cooking). I'm more looking for ideas for quick grab and go type things that don't require cooking (other than microwaving maybe?)

Anybody got a favorite they'd care to share?

I really like boiled eggs and I seemed to be able to find them premade everywhere now. And they are now pairing them with cheese and fruit in tiny platters.

Thanks! I've seen those too. One I recently saw had chocolate coated almonds, cheese, and an egg. Good idea!

Pretty much "ANY" Kay's Natural's Protein Snacks.

I'm addicted to Moon Cheese (dehydrated cheese) right now. My grocery store had more flavors but costco has 10 oz. bags of the cheddar. Sooooo good.

Moon Cheese is awesome!
Check out "Just the Cheese" and "Wisps" also.

P3 Protein packs made by Kraft are my go to grab n go. Ranges from 13 - 20 g protein. Has meat, cheese and nuts and they are 2 oz - 3.2 oz in size. I can grab one, throw it in my purse and I am good to go!

I LOVE Whisps. I don't think I've tried Just the cheese, I'll be on the lookout for it. Thanks!

I recently tried RawRev Glo - Creamy Peanut Butter and sea salt Protein / Fiber Bars (15g protein / 14g Fiber, 2g Sugar, 3 Net Carbs) - It's super filling and compact, easy to keep in bags, etc.

Mozzarella cheese sticks - 60cal - 7gr protein

Tender Beef Jerky in 0.625 oz bags, again small and compact easy to keep in bags

single serve Cottage cheese - I've become a huge fan of cottage cheese since WLS

Matt Z mentioned Kay's protein Snacks, they are pretty awesome and easy to use for 2 snacks if needed.

I also make hard boiled eggs to travel with to work each week, I have an egg maker which takes roughly 12min total, no hassle, perfect cooking every time and then easy to travel with.

I like the pre-packed hard boiled eggs that have been mentioned before, as well as the P3 things also mentioned. My local stores also sell little packs with cheese, grapes, and almonds which I really love. And Quickchek (a convenience store in NJ) sells Quest Protein chips so I always grab one if I need something and there are no other options.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
