Nerves are normal. Second thoughts and cold feet are normal. Focus on what you will be able to do with your new life. What kinds of things does your weight hold you back from? That's what I thought about. I even had second thoughts when they put me on the table. When the anesthesiologist said "Okay, I'm turning on the gas now," I started to think "Wow, I didn't even have time to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz." Then it was done.

Of course you are nervous honey. You are about to have major surgery. What you are feeling is completely normal. Just try to remain calm and remember that lots of people have weight loss surgery and are just fine. You are going to do great. Good luck!

Sexymomma - Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

Why am I sooooo nervous??? It is not my first weight loss surgery! I had a lap band placed in 2006. Revised to the gastric sleeve just last year...July 2017 and now scheduled for the granddaddy of all RNY on September 26th due to extremely painful GERD!

I can't enjoy the excitement of being scheduled because my head space has me hung up and all in my feelings! The strangest and most frustrating thing is I can't figure what in the HECK I'm even nervous about!

Tell me there are others out there that have been on this emotional rollercoaster while on their journey's.

I can't be the only one.....right??????? :wacko::blush::wacko:

No I'm sure you ARE NOT the only one, maybe because you feel this is the LAST Bariatric surgery you want and you fear it is not?
I would think. since this is your Third you were going to be super-relaxed , but guess what? You ARE a people not a plastic doll,with a plastic smile on your face. You are warm and have feelings. And,most important,, You are doing You and you are,do8my your own path and journey. AND THAT IS OKAY!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
