How do you Move it?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering what people are doing for exercise? What are your favorite classes, work outs, videos?
Do you hike, walk, swim, dance?

I have been taking my self for walks and swimming a little. The idea of bouncing a lot (running, aerobics... so forth) does not sound pleasant for my tummy, and I'm nervous to try sit ups or crunches and things. Looking for more idea's, especially as the weather gets cool.

Thanks!

I usually do more low impact cardio. I use YouTube videos right now. I started with Leslie Sansone and I've done some of the HIIT for beginners programs, and I really like a Beachbody program called Slim in 6 (Burn it Up) that's on YouTube. I can't do the whole thing (yet) but I skip ahead and do some of each of the segments.

thanks! I'll look them up...and skipping bits sounds like a great idea. So many of those videos are just waaaay too high intensity for me so far.

Leslie Sansone is NOT high intensity at all. It's a great program for someone that just wants to move. IMHO it get boring after a while and I want something more challenging. (Even though I don't have the energy to get though a whole program LOL). Slim in 6 will have some moves that she will show you a modified version of the move so I like that. I really like the HIIT programs. I just search various videos and some have modified moved and others don't. The thing about HIIT is that it's doesn't get boring and you can challenge yourself as you build stamina to get more reps in. My surgeon has cleared me for core work, abs, etc and said I could get as intense as my body would allow.

I work out with a personal trainer Mon and Wed for 30 min then I do an additional 30 - 50 minutes on elliptical or a combination of stair stepper and elliptical. Rest of the time I break it up and do treadmill, walk outside, elliptical, stair stepper. I also take a 45 min yoga core class and a 20 minutes arms/abs class on Tuesdays. My office has a gym with 2 trainers. They have classes every day and they also offer 30 and 60 min personal training (for a fee of course). I find I am not good at doing exercise when I am at home because of all the other items pulling at my calendar so I come into work early or leave late to accommodate getting workouts in.

I have around 6 Jessica Smith DVDs that I enjoy. All total I have a good 30 DVDs from all sorts of people. I like to do 30 minutes first thing in the morning.

I also walk the dog.

Doc has given me clearance for more aggressive exercise so the treadmill will be getting some attention soon. I like to do speed and incline intervals on that.

I walk an hour a day (outdoors, with some hills) and work out with a trainer twice a week doing weights and strength training. There's a kickboxing gym near me that I'm looking into, as well.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
