Most surgeons recommend that their patients go easy on the caffeine or give it up entirely. You’ll have to see if your system can tolerate it. For me the big surprise of this surgery was how sensitive my new stomach is. Things like my normal medications and favorite foods nauseate me. Caffeine increases acid production and you DO NOT want increased acid production with a sleeve, ESP when you are still trying to heal that long staple line! Afterwards, you are going to want to "cut" your caffeine with Calcium, Calcium binds to caffeine and lessens it's negative effects on your system.
