Of all things post surgery (4 weeks), eating too fast is becoming an ongoing problem. One that I only have at work. How did you retrain your mind at work to slow down the eating process? Although, only at work do I suffer with this problem. At home, I'm good and in control.

I'm on the soft foods stage and now that I'm thinking about it while writing this, it's entirely possible I didn't count to 30 in between bites. And now, totally suffering from it :(. Lesson Learned.... I will really have to concentrate on counting my chews and not let other people's fast eating get to me.

The biggest thing is to put down your utensil or food between each bite and focus on the chewing.
Do not pick your utensil back up until you have swallowed and cleared your mouth completely. Only then can you pick up your utensil or food and get another bite.

Thanks! I also realized I do much better when there are less people in the break room. I'm more conscious of my eating and taking my time.

Seet the timer on your phone for 30 seconds chew time until you get it down

I found I did much better today. There's something about having a room full of people all eating fast that almost messes with your own mind to eat at their speeds. Today I concentrated on the food in front of me and did much better 20 minutes (but I didn't eat my full 3 oz either)

I'm having the same problem. I only have a 30 minute lunch and find that I'm eating way too fast.

I'm doing much better. I have to make a conscious effort to count my chewing and make sure I slow down.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
