Leo85 16 Posted September 17, 2018 HI! I had surgery last october. I lost 63lbs by may. I haven't lot anything else since May. My surgeon says it can happen and my body is adjusting and to step up the cardio and it will start coming off again. But def starting to get worried. Has anyone else had a long stall and then still had success. I really want to get to at least 100lb down. a 1 Healthy_life reacted to this
MargoCL 677 Posted September 17, 2018 Are you tracking your calories? Are you still following your diet plan? Are you exercising and getting enough Water in? Most stalls happen initially while your body is adjusting to caloric intake changes then once it balances it the stall breaks. But you still have to continue to watch what you're eating, track what you're eating and exercise regularly. If you can provide us a little more information we may be able to help you a little better. Have you spoken with your nutritionist? If so, what is he / she saying? 4 salsalawyer, Wanda247, FancyChristine15 and 1 other reacted to this
KimTriesRNY 1,853 Posted September 17, 2018 Stalls can happen at any point, but that’s a long one since May. My longest was a bit over three weeks in July. I have been stalled this month as well for the last two weeks. It is common to stall at points where your weight was stable in the past, or after losing a good amount of weight for sure. Definitely after more than a month to six weeks it would be time to closely evaluate diet and exercise to see if it is a stall or are you inadvertently in maintenance phase. It certainly is possible for you to start losing again, but what are you eating? Are you tracking? Have you started snacking? Are you exercising?
GreenTealael 25,439 Posted September 17, 2018 This sounds like a plateau. My longest stalls are 1 month each... Are you tracking, veering from plan, getting enough Water, sleep, etc. ? 2 FancyChristine15 and MargoCL reacted to this
Leo85 16 Posted September 18, 2018 I haven't been tracking calories, honestly im probably not eating enough. I have been working out twice a week but need to do that more. My Water in take has been great. I haven't talked to a nutritionist , just my surgeon and my endocrinologist. I do have PCOS and hypothyroidism and some of my numbers were a little higher than they should be at my last check up. My endo told me the same to go back to counting calories and up the exercise. I was just hoping someone had been in the same spot as me. I know the work is up to me ! Thank you all for your replies!
GreenTealael 25,439 Posted September 18, 2018 I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, at least you know what the causes are and how to fix them!
AllyJonesVSG 184 Posted September 18, 2018 Almost 3 weeks and then 3 lbs. dropped off in 3 days, so I guess it's my body adjusting. I'm only 4 months out though and all these stall/regain posts are starting to make me nervous. Good luck with it and I hope it ends soon!
laurileet 86 Posted September 18, 2018 I've been on a 2 week stall. but i'm sticking to the exercise, and may reduce my calories to push it forward again.
KSCgettingvsg 2 Posted September 21, 2018 I’m going through the same thing. 7 months out from surgery and haven’t lost anything in 8 weeks!!! I’m counting calories, getting 1000 to 1200 a day but I’m not exercising. I’m going to make myself exercise…I hate to exercise, but I think that’s my only hope to shed these last 20 lbs.!!! 😩 I’m frustrated and so afraid of the scale moving in the opposite direction! laurileet 86 Posted November 5, 2018 Stall is over! I've been losing about a pound every 2 weeks. and i'm totally fine with that. One thing new: i'm working with a personal training for the last month.. and I LOVE it! 1 Healthy_life reacted to this
salsalawyer 5 Posted November 5, 2018 Stays can be frustrating. the thing that popped into my mind was food tracking, Protein, and Water intake. Despite the recent point of my surgery, I have seen the water and calorie intake jumpstart the loss. If your body thinks it's starving or dehydrated, it will hold on to weight. Please track your calorie, protein and water intake. Also, keep track of your body measurements, even if the scale may be slow in weight loss you be losing inches. Good luck!
