skep 9 Posted January 10, 2009 I had mine done at Duke four weeks ago. I have been very happy with Dr. Aurora Pryor. The support staff there can be a little frustrating at times, but the nutritionist and medical staff are really great. I started with Dr. Enoch of Cary and had a bad experience. I had to call several times to get the insurance specialist to send in my paper work. It was denied but I had already decided to get Walter Lindstrum of obesityhelp to help with the denial. He told me about a program through Allergan which would pay his legal but that had to be initiated by the doctor. Not only was the insurance specialist in Dr. Enochs office incredibly rude and condescending to me, when Mr. Lindstrum called to give the office information about the program, she was rude and unprofessional with him as well. I was totally frustrated and decided that I could not work with a doctor where I was treated with such disrespect. So, I went to Duke weight Loss and Dr. Dana Portenier. What a difference! I had my first appointment on 12/22/08 and was approved by the insurance company by 1/5/09. Surgery is scheduled for 2/6/09.
ardita 0 Posted February 15, 2009 I went to Dr. Moran's session the other night. HE seemed knowledgeable if a little stand offish (he said "like I already told you..." afew too many times) but his staff seemed lovely. I called Duke the next day to schedule to attend one of their sessions just to make sure I was getting more than one take before deciding and they were all booked for info sessions until July! There is no way I could wait that long just for an info session; makes me think it would be many years before the surgery. No thanks.
ardita 0 Posted February 15, 2009 Does anyone know if any providers in the Raleigh/Durham area are doing the gastric sleeve?

I went to the seminar for Duke in May and decided that I didn't want to wait for the long time before I could be seen. It was a big mistake. I went to Dr. Enochs in Raleigh. I went to his seminar in June and made an appointment for July, my decision, could have seen him sooner. after I saw him in July, after many phone calls, difficult staff to deal with, insurance rejection, etc., I made an appointment with Duke. I called late November, Saw the dr. 12/22, had insurance approval 12/30, and am having surgery on Thursday, 2/19. Going to Duke first would have saved me 6 months and $500. Msvmk 8 Posted June 18, 2009 I was banded on 6/10/09 in Cary NC by the one and only Dr. Paul Enochs. I have about 10 co workers that took the journey before me with other doctors. Their stories with the nurses and Dr's was nothing like what i experienced with Dr Enochs, he was everthing i want from a Dr, his staff is really great as well.:thumbup::sneaky::thumbup:
Skinny Grandma 0 Posted June 18, 2009 It is just very hard to get an appt with him after the surgery. Easy to see his nurse Lisa but not him. Six to eight week wait and then long wait in office.

flipp98 0 Posted June 25, 2009 I'm scheduled for surgery next week with Dr.Enochs and Dr. Bruce. I'm a little nervous about the surgery, but I'm ready for the change. My process with Dr. Enochs office has been pleasant and very quick. I went to the seminar in April and I would have had the surgery earlier but due to my work schedule I had to wait until July 1st. Msvmk 8 Posted June 26, 2009 I went in for my last Dr. appt on 6/9 and was told that b/c of some insurance situations my surgery would be the next day, I got a little nervous but quickly got over it b/c I was so ready to begin my journey. Im on week 3 down, 18lbs and Im excited about my new future. My advice to any is to stay prayed up, make sure your are mentally ready for the change and enjoy the ride. The more I loose the more motivated and determined I become. Good Luck

yorkshire 0 Posted June 22, 2010 I was banded a week ago by Dr. Enoch and got along very well. While he was doing the band he discovered a large hiatal hernia, which he also repair and I'm thankful. He is great and very professional yet I feel comfortable with him. The only complaint I have is the wait time to see him. The last time I went I had to wait 2-1/2 hrs. I went to the reception desk & ask if there was anything wrong. She acted like it was not big deal and the norm. She said that it usually took that long for an appt with him. I asked her if I was 2-1/2 hrs late for my appt, if that would be acceptable? She did not answer. Hopefully his PA won't take that long. I would definitely recommend Dr. Enoch, even with the wait.
