So need some help the last 2 nights I have woken up at midnight with a bad burning sensation in my throught!!! Felt like I couldn't breath and going to vomit...I am 1 month post op and haven't felt this before. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I do wear a CPAP but after it settles I put it back on and I'm fine...its weird...

Are you on any acid reduction medication? The Sleeve has the potential side effect of creating or increasing acid reflux/GERD issues, you *SHOULD* be on medication specifically for Acid issues.

Are you avoiding all foods and beverages for at least an hour before bed?

I'd reach out to your team and let them know what's going on, they are going to want to adjust or prescribe you some medication... get in touch sooner than later, you don't want the increased acid to cause issues with your still healing staple line.

I didn't know I shouldn't drink before bed I always drink some Water before bed. I have appointment Tuesday and it will be a topic of conversation for sure. I will try no water before bed tonight. The only change I can think of is had a few bites of watermelon that's not happening tonight!!!

The reason for no water/food before bed is that it can still be in your stomach/pouch/sleeve when you lay down, so all the acid mixed Fluid now has a very easy path back up your esophagus. Hopefully that helps you out! Good Luck!

I still take 40mg of Omeprazole every night before bed. My surgeon indicated I could be on it for at least one year post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
