I will be 2 months post op next week and I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing frequent urination? It like anything I drink goes right through me...I still haven’t had any complications but this is actually annoying even at night I get up to pee i can’t even hold it if I wanted to..if I have to go I have to go lol

Oh yeah. I'm 2 months out myself and all the Water I drink means I stay in the bathroom. I also get up several times at night.

I wonder why that happens? I’m glad I work from home because i have to go 15 or 20 minutes after I drink anything

Same here! I've always been this way though. Whenever I travel I need to know where all the bathrooms are immediately!

I actually discussed this with my PCP today. She said it could be one of three things, though only two of them were likely in my case. Either a bladder infection or something she explained happens when a person loses a significant amount of weight. Basically, you have a lot of tissue in that area due to the excess weight, but when you start dropping the pounds, you lose the padding, so to speak, that allows you to hold your urine the way you normally would. Of course, she was more eloquent when explaining it to me, but I can’t remember her exact wording or terminology. If my urinalysis comes back normal, she suggested I try Kegel exercises to see if it helps.

I developed this problem only after surgery. My PCP sent me to a uro for a workup who diagnosed me with a overactive bladder - but had no guesses how I developed that. I’m taking some medication that helps a bit but it’s still really really annoying. If I drink anywhere near my Water goal for the day, I’m peeing every 30 minutes and sometimes rushing to get to the toilet before leaking.
Oh, and I have male anatomy.

Ive had this issue since I was in my 20s ( nothing to do with surgery). Its annoying because its really hard to get a good nights sleep. Have given up on trying to find the cause and solution as so far no Dr has come up with one

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
