kag2791 17 Posted September 11, 2018 I'm getting more nervous as I near the end of the preop requirements. I'm done with everything my insurance requires to get a surgery date. I have my final consultation appointment on October 1st. I'll get a surgery date after that. My nerves are getting to me as this becomes "real." Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted September 11, 2018 Just keep a list of all the things in life that will be better or easier after the surgery. Have another list of the problems you have now and how you expect them to progress if you don't have surgery. That should help keep everything in perspective. I just dont have that great of a support system.Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Auroragirl4489 88 Posted September 11, 2018 I understand the lack of a support system. But I just kept thinking I’m doing this for me and no one else. I’m the support I need. I do go to counseling and talking to people on here has help so much where i didn’t feel alone. Send me a message if you ever need to talk

MG1776 275 Posted September 11, 2018 Being nervous is normal and expected. Just remember why you are making the change, and the positives that will come of it. I'm 11 months out and feel like the year has gone by in a blink. I've done so many things in this year that I never could have done before (ziplining, jogging, buying clothes at any store I walk in, etc.) that I would never want to go back in time. The first month takes some adjusting, but after that, seems like it becomes the new "norm". There are many outlets on here to reach out to that will help get you through this. Once I heard I was approved and I scheduled my surgery for November, the fear and doubt started creeping in. Even though I have just joined these forums, they have helped me tremendously with questions and concerns that I have/had. Good luck at your next appointment!
