Screwballski 540 Posted September 11, 2018 “Hey, look at me. I did exactly what I was told not to do and it was fine. Free pass!” That post is fine with you guys. I have a different opinion and felt like commenting. I assume that when people post stuff they know that not every human reading it thinks exactly the same as they do and that they are grown up and prepared for that. So much drama on these forums. 1 KRush88 reacted to this

How exactly do you know what I was told what to do and what not to do. Please enlighten me. Were you present at my surgical consultations both pre and post op? Where you present at all my nutritionist appointments? Let me answer that for you smugly, just like the tone of your post, umm no. Medical professionals (not you) have a different opinion on carbonation so get over yourself. Yes, I had a diet coke, and I lost another pound today. You are no different then I am, just a former fat person trying to shed the extra pounds and live a new life however unless you carry a medical degree I don't care for your judgement. 1 sillykitty reacted to this

I almost feel guilty for doing it. I am about six months post of and one pound away from my personal goal. I kind of am still scared of food but I am trying to overcome that. Obviously, you had some concern about this based upon prior knowledge that it could be harmful. Read your own post. My response was based on the info you provided. I’m not engaging in any further ridiculous discussion.

jaminator 262 Posted September 12, 2018 Eh... i asked my surgeon about alcohol and carbonation post op and she told me you have to live your life. If you think you will never have anything sinful you’re just setting yourself up for failure. She also said carbonation is fine for some and hard to tolerate for others, but it’s not harmful to your pouch. She said there is a lot of misinformation out there on the topic, many times used as scare tactics to keep people from drinking full sugar soda. 7 leebick, sillykitty, CrankyMagpie and 4 others reacted to this

BurBur 113 Posted September 12, 2018 I feel like my "food flap" must be broken. 6 months post op and any carbonation makes "me" the fountain. UP UP UP it comes. Quite the display.

insta_adventurer 1,046 Posted September 12, 2018 I obviously haven’t had a carbonated beverage since surgery. I find I miss the caffeine of soda more than the carbonation. That said, I did try drinking with a straw once and felt extremely bloated from it- so I have a feeling carbonation wouldn’t feel great either. But, as evidenced in this thread, YMMV on discomfort, but I disagree that a carbonated beverage would be enough pressure to permanently stretch a stomach. No two pouches or sleeves or bodies will be the same, but I’d imagine it would take a lot of pressure repeatedly to stretch anything out. 1 sillykitty reacted to this
