Thank you for starting this - I loved reading about everyone. So many wonderful, interesting, and (most importantly) kind, people in one place!

I'm 42, from Ireland and now living in Upstate NY. Hope to move back home in about 4 years. Mum to two girls, aged 12 and 11.

I'm a knitwear designer - I write knitting patterns for publication in books, magazines, online, and on my website (my avatar is one of my designs). I also work part time outside the home, otherwise I would never leave it (bit of an introvert. OK, a lot of an introvert). I work for our county's Domestic Violence programme running a supervised vsitation centre so that kids can have court ordered visitation with the offending parent can be in a safe environment.

I am mad about knitting (obvs), Doctor Who (have seen every episode since 1963), Victorian literature, squirrels, Scrabble, tea, tennis, and football (soccer to you here - lifelong Liverpool FC fan).

I am 52, mother of four, grandmother of four, have 4 furbabies.....hmm seeing a pattern. lol My youngest has special needs so a lot of my energy goes to him. He is part of the reason I did this. My partner is a great source of support and I am hoping she may take the same steps soon, for her health.

I’m a 39 year old working in healthcare management with two young sons and a husband of 13 years. I spend a lot of my free time reading, working on home projects, and quilting. I would say traveling but that kinda went out the window this past year. I’m rarely serious, pretty laid back, and happy to meet you all!

Hi everyone! Newbie here...

I’m in my early 30’s, married with furbabies, currently trying to juggle study, working part time as a GP, and keeping fit. I love to do powerlifting but a series of illnesses and injuries have gotten in the way recently so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it again once I’m cleared post-op!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
