Lisamarie517 0 Posted June 11, 2019 I love reading your post. I will be 65 in August. My surgery should be scheduled about that time. My current weight of 235 has created all sorts of problems this past year including HP, sleep A, Planter Fciatus, I'm looking forward to many retirement goals next year and I don't want to be weighed down. I must say this mandatory weight management 6 months out has been rather eye opening and I'm more determined than every to finally lose this excess weight and to never let it return . I will keep you posted. Lisa Marie

Lisamarie517 0 Posted June 11, 2019 I hope so. Ive completed almost all my task. My biggest issue is using the CPAP . My sleep Dr sent a letter to Sparrow stating I'm in compliance so I'm kind of wondering if I can stop it now.
jc2003 5 Posted June 11, 2019 Sleeved 3/11/2019, age 63. Finally, someone else admitting issues with CPAP! :) I hated mine with a passion. Used for about 6-7 months and I put it away. I took two Benadryl nightly in order to sleep with it, otherwise very restless sleep and exhausted the next day. I did not have a mask, used the nasal pillow but still bothered by it and the hose. I requested to view the two sleep study results; I am still waiting. The surgeon and pulmonary physician insisted I needed CPAP. My primary told me it was an insurance requirement and to put up with it as long as possible. The extensive PFT administered in the pulmonologist's office had excellent results. Check your insurance and surgeon requirements. I wouldn't stop using prior to surgery without their blessing. You don't want to have jumped through all the hoops only to be denied because of that darn CPAP! Sorry for the wordy response. I started at 234 and have lost 41 lbs so far. I am happy with the slow, steady downward trend. My surgeon believes I should have lost twice as much by now. He can be annoying at times. :) Hope all goes well for you! Joy2me 8 Posted February 18, 2020 I started my sleeve journey on 11/06/19 at 65 . I’m now 66. My journey has slowed a bit at 4 mnths. , and am constantly looking at my daily diet and seeing what changes to make. I’m NOT an “ everything in moderation “ person. I try not to eat nothing processed or in a box ( although tuna fish is on my ok list) and try to buy organic when we can afford it. We are only 2 people so I can splurge a little on healthy foods. We try to eat as natural as possible. I work out as much as possible, usually spin, Zumba, combat, weights at least 4x a week. I made myself a commitment to this program and that meant changing my mental attitude towards food, leaving out all sugar, starches ( bread, rices, potatoes), sugar drinks, etc. I have no tolerance for the “everything in moderation” attitude, simply because I believe you’re kidding yourself with this attitude and setting yourself up for saying, “ it’s ok, I’ll just start anew tomorrow “. I make no apologies for my attitude and plan. If you want to argue another point of view, I will listen but you won’t change me. At 66, I’m doing what works for me and love my new lifestyle.
