I knew I don't be right, steak at 3 weeks? Can Amazon deliver me a new body, I have worn this one out!

Yes, my surgeon said I could try anything I was big enough to try. Once tiny bite of very tender ribeye went down fine. However, a few days later, a wedge of lite cheese and 2 Pork rinds caused a trip to the ER.

Well the first time you tried ballroom dancing ,you weren't a success. How much harder it is to have a new way of eating de.livered. Everybody has trouble in the 3arly Days. But everyone seems to find their own rhythm and makes a success. The feeling,of having food stuck is an awful sensation. Nobody wants to watch so often they ignore someone needing help.

And I was right, I have kept saying there is something wrong with Precious Pouch! Well last Friday, I had an Upper endoscopy, an EGJ because the duodenum is no longer accessible on a bypasser , And my Precious has a moderate stricture and Hector my little baby gastric ulcer has 5 nasty stepbrothers. Anybody remember the movie Gremlins? Well Hector is Gizmo, relatively quiet, doesn't make waves. These 5 stepbrothers are located in the area of the stoma and on the back wall of the jejunem, and they are more like Stripe and his group, haven't bled yet, haven't come cl9se to perforation, but I am not trusting them. And although I name all my toys and possessions, have since I was a mini-Frustr8, I refuse to name these 5 hooligans. I want them GONE! So now I take that omeprazole twice a day, supposed to open the capsule and pour the grains on food, rough when the only soludish you have is applesauce. See Precious would rather vomit than let purees and soft food through. And between the vomiting and the tube down my throat I have laryngitis. I would say I croak like a🐸 frog, but most of the time I'm like a toad instead , no sound. And also for 3 months I am on Carafate every 6 hours around the clock so 6am Noon 6pm Midnight. And I have to perform a cute maneuver. The medicine comes in big oval white horse pills, so I put one in my shotglass, pour hot Water on to it, stir the slurry up before it separates. And it is a shame they don't have much taste, I think it tastes like white over refined flour. But what the hey, I'll try to stick to this program. And within 2 weeks I get to have ANOTHER lovely scoping. So October 23rd I see Dr Needleman and probably that Friday if not sooner a rescope. And I have two other surgical processes I postponed because of Bariatrics, still elective at this point maybe not forever. Oh I am a busy kangaroo, aren't I? Do you know why I am a kangaroo? Because I now have a pouch, and I hope Precious and I will be off this diet, I call it 2A because there are things on a true Stage 2 diet Precious refuses, I am living on Soups, broths, Protein Shakes and no cal waters. I think I shall have permanent Cream of 🍄 breath.

So glad you got checked out. We certainly know our bodies don't we. I am glad you now know what is wrong and hopefully will be on the mend soon. I have been on the meds you mentioned plus two more at the same time and nothing would get rid of mine. Stay with it and take care of you.

I know it can be frustrating to be on the liquid diet but you can do this.

I just watched a required video course for my surgery and it said if I have any food intolerance (upset stomach, something sticking, etc) to go back to full liquid for 24 hours to allow everything to settle down. My post-op manual also says I should be on soft foods by week 3. 1 week liquid, 1 week puree, then soft foods, introducing one new food per day. Should be eating anything by 6 months.

And I hope it goes just that way for you! My progression has not gone well, still on Stage 2A, I call it that because there are "2" items my stomach will not accept. But my weight loss is great, another 3/4 of a pound since Friday, never stalled but I'm sure the day will come for that too. It has been rocky, I tell myself not everyone gets smooth Aruban white sands, the coast of Maine is equally lovely. And strange as the journey now seems at times. it is my own Frustr8 trek, and I will have sucess eventualitY repeat EGJ will be October 26 at 3:10pm Eastern . Dr Noria again, endoscopies. really are her" bang zone". And you always do what you excell at!

I’m 3 weeks and 4 days post op.

At three weeks I was still on 2 ounces of pureed food. At that stage I couldn't even think about eating something as solid as fish. I know the feeling that you experienced. I get it when I eat too fast (still learning to eat slower) the only thing that works for me is walking, patting my chest like burping a baby and spitting out the slimes. I don't eat or drink anything until I get over the episode. It's rough, we have to retrain ourselves to eat slower and in moderation. It takes time. Good luck on your progress.

Sorry to hear all this. How did they visualize the ulcers in your jejunum. My surgeon said after RNY she wouldn't be able to see anything beyond the stoma from the inside perspective inside the tummy pouch. Also I just got prescribed liquid carafate today. It makes your poo black. You should ask for it. No way can I swallow a big pill right now. Feel better soon.

As I understand it, 2 of the 5 were just before the stricture, she got me partially dialated, could see the other 3, but had to withdraw before a full dilitation, and risk making a bleed. One of the few times I wish I could have been awake and watched it on a monitor. Did I ever tell you I watched my colonoscopy in September 2012, absolutely, positively fascinating. Liquid Carafate? Hmmn have to check into THAT. Had black BM before with PeptoBismol. My bowels have yet to work spontaneously, have to j9g the #2 train with MoM , Miramax keeps it soft but it does not want to leave plus my diet just does notseem to have much bulk. And my Repeat EGJ is next Friday the 26th at 3:10pm. And that means I spend 15 hours NPO, this better work! Maybe she'll have to do this every 2 weeks? Don't seem like I will be on Camp Happy for a while.😪

I can't imagine how your doc thinks you can handle a big pill with a dx'd stricture. Here's a link to liquid carafate. https://www.rxlist.com/carafate-suspension-drug.htm#description

Mine says soft foods starting at week four, with a calendar to follow for the month. That has toast, english muffins, chicken, turkey and ham along with other stuff. chicken was the first day for lunch, and it got stuck. Sigh. So one just never knows.

Currently I'm back to gentler foods and taking it easy. Every group is different.

Yep. bread is my snack Buddy, so I had already planned to be a bad patient and ignore that. Not to mention, I had been concerned after reading reports from three different places, including the National Institute of Health, that said bread could really be a sticky food and bind you up. both that and Yale did not recommend it for a minimum of three months after surgery.

But my best friend and I ( who has her surgery coming up) have both been noticing that some of their things don’t really mesh with what a lot of other programs do. They also strictly forbid any Protein Shakes, drinks or powders.

You should not be eating solid food at 3 weeks. You should still be on full liquid until week 4. Then soft pudding type food for 2 weeks then some very soft chewed up food.

My surgeon also told me I could advance to soft foods early. Everyone is different and our surgeons tell us different things. People at this forum should not be telling others what is right for them.

Not according to my surgeons plan, I was on soft protiens including fish on week 3. No puree stage ever. No problems.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
