mjcclkwd 27 Posted September 25, 2018 Fish is hard for me also. It needs to be very moist in order not to get stuck. We need to remember to chew chew chew. I catch myself not chewing enough and getting the back up and pain. I have found that eating in front of the TV or playing a game on my phone helps slow me down and distract me a little. 1 E.S reacted to this
MissPoodle 58 Posted September 25, 2018 I'm still on the puree stage and i acknowledge that different doctors recommend different diets. My dietitian has told me to start soft foods after 2 weeks and to start normal diet at 4 weeks. One of the things they stressed is i will have to chew every mouthful till the food liquefies in my mouth before swallowing. Not sure if this helps.Sent from my SM-G950F using BariatricPal mobile app 3 clsumrall, E.S and Bastian reacted to this
clsumrall 535 Posted September 25, 2018 I was cocky because I’ve had no vomiting or dumping and then I made a pot roast with gravy and chewed my brains out and it happened. So Much Pain in my chest and throat. Took 1 hour before I could throw it up took 2 days for me to swallow normal again. I was 3 &1/2 weeks out. So I was approved for rotisserie chicken and thought the pot roast would be ok. But NO 1 2 Frustr8, E.S and FluffyChix reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted September 25, 2018 E.S. I haven't totally left you, hope we have jackets or at least vests for this organization. Be 3 weeks tomorrow, yesterday was first day Precious Pouch behaved like a good little pouch. Mixed up half a banana in my Protein Shake, need a little fruit/Miralax to keep things chugging through to the finish. My colon prefers to slumber away. Maybe not enough left to come through, maybe 70 year old lazy colon, maybe need to go to MoM instead or in addition. Bad when you think Did I Go Today or Not? God did say " This too shall pass" but I suspect He was referring to life trials not💩 1 E.S reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted September 26, 2018 Wonder that one myself, when Precious Pouch rebels it feels like there is food stuck there although I don't go above 1/8th=2T to a 1/4th cup=4T at any one time. Waters, most liquids drain fine, even Protein Shakes hardly give me a trial. EGD am I on my way to a balloon dilatation of my stoma? Rather not travel 50 miles for it, but urping, barfing and Frank vomiting get old real quick! And where am I losing the most weight? The wrists, I now have old lady wrists, and I didn't need the loss there! 1 Bastian reacted to this
xoxococojay 842 Posted September 26, 2018 You do realize this happens to everyone right?? That’s what you signed up for- it’s restriction. Just keep doing you and focus on your progress. The pitty party thing won’t help you in the long run so don’t worry about what naturally thin people get to do, it doesn’t matter. They don’t think about food like that. Just keep on pushing through and things will get easier as you continue to adjust. Focus more on how far you’ve come in your journey as a whole. 3 Bastian, FluffyChix and ACinOH reacted to this
elcee 3,341 Posted September 26, 2018 Curious, does it happen because the pouch is full or does it happen before that.
xoxococojay 842 Posted September 26, 2018 Usually because you’re full but in her case because it’s to soon for her to be eating anyway, it could also be a texture thing. Like maybe the bite was to big or maybe the food was to dry or dense. Everyone goes through this, it’s not a big deal, just a reminder to be careful going forward. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

Everyone has a different program. And it depends on the type of surgery as well. My consisted of this: Clear Liquids during my hospital stay,1 week of full liquids, 1 week of purred foods, 1 week soft foods, and by the beginning of week 4 I was eating normal foods. Therefore, if the OP was eating fish on week 3, that would have been acceptable in my program. Obviously, you would want the fish to be moist and cooked to accommodate our sensitive pouches. I ate tuna fish and salmon as one of my staples during week 3, soft food stage. Frustr8 7,886 Posted September 27, 2018 it was pureed smooth but Precious Pouch didn't like it at all! I HATE her little elevator maneuver 😋" Everything going UP" But we shall still make our peace, I vow this!

So, just following what the surgeon who knows you is best. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
