lessismore1001 30 Posted September 8, 2018 Anyone regret not doing RNY instead of Mini?
summerset 5,265 Posted September 8, 2018 So far not. However, in the end you can't compare them unless you had both. You have either MGB or RNY. 1 lessismore1001 reacted to this
UnderTheCaliSun 27 Posted September 8, 2018 Not at all but I agree that it's hard to compare unless you have had both. However, I've been completely pleased with my MGB and surprised at how quickly I recovered. 1 lessismore1001 reacted to this
MarinaGirl 609 Posted September 12, 2018 Yes. I developed bile reflux, which is a known risk for MGB, so I wish I had RNY as my original surgery.
UnderTheCaliSun 27 Posted September 12, 2018 @MarinaGirl Did you get the anti-reflux stitch done to prevent the bile reflux? To my knowledge, only a few surgeons do it. I know that bile reflux is a known risk of MGB but the new stitch procedure is supposed to prevent that. This was one of my concerns when I had the surgery. I had the stitch done. I wasn't going to have the MGB without it. So far, it works but there's no guarantee it works long term. I would love to know if you also had the stitch done and how long after your MGB did you develop the bile reflux?
MarinaGirl 609 Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) Yes, my surgeon did the stitch that is supposed to minimize the risk of bile reflux after MGB. I had bariatric surgery in April 2017 and started experiencing bile reflux in December 2017, which was confirmed with an EGD endoscopy. UnderTheCaliSun 27 Posted September 13, 2018 @MarinaGirl That's a bummer. I hope your revision to full bypass helps you. Did you have the same surgeon do both or a different one and who did you use for the MGB?
tldolphin7777 8 Posted June 6, 2019 (edited) I already have developed reflux in the past year. I am preop, actually thinking of August and Mexico. I have been researching surgery types and doctors. I have gained and lost so many times with the help of phentermine, and realized like most, that without it, I can not do it. I welcome any suggestions. My BMI initially suggests sleeve, but because of reflux, Dr suggested RNY. I thought I picked a DR, but am now questioning that decision. I guess I am where I started, just more knowledgeable. I welcome assistance! Tracy Edited June 6, 2019 by tldolphin7777 Did not mean to hit enter

tldolphin7777 8 Posted June 6, 2019 Briswife15, I have been trying to decide yes. I would love the least invasive, but I think the reflux is going to prevent that. Now I also am reevaluating doctor, so that is a factor too. 2 Frustr8 and GreenTealael reacted to this
