I searched for this topic but didn't find any postings.

Next week I have to attend a three day business meeting away from home. This will include all day meetings (where I am very comfortable bringing my own stuff from home to eat) but also dinners out. I'm not comfortable bringing my own food into a nice restaurant and the only option I see is not eating at all-which may make others feel slightly odd. I'm concerned if I tried to order from the restaurant, it would still be high in sugar or fat and I could have a bad reaction.

Has anyone else been through this? Any suggestions of what to order that has worked well (on pureed diet phase) or should I just enjoy the people and forget all food?

Thanks,

MM

The same thing happened to me. Two different results:

1. Was able to order Soup and fit in. Just sipped on it through out the meal.

2. I ordered, but did not eat anything. Just cut it up and moved stuff around on the plate. When someone noticed I just said that I was not that hungry. Saved me from having an awkward conversation about my procedure.

If you can check the menus prior to have an idea of what you can eat. Recently on a business trip I just ordered Soup and it was fine.

Good luck

I was called out of town a week or so into purèe phase. I just began eating real food. I selected lean meats or Soups when I couldn’t have shakes or Protein Bars. I chewed everything to purèe before swallowing and took the tiniest bites. Did not have a single problem with anything. I tried scrambled eggs at home (nothing in them) first...winner! It was a breeze!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
