Mashed veg with Protein powder

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Jskelly. I was having the same problem. I called my nurse and they had me switch from non-fat milk to almond milk. They say I am most likely intolerant now. I had a really difficult time with eating post surgery. So I tried so many different things. sugar free pudding, Soup, popsicles. Split pea is what I lived on for the first 2 weeks. I just started the squishy stage and things seem to be ok so far. I just c as not tell if I'm full or not and it scares me to eat. I did learn that getting the hiccups is a way of your body telling me to stop eating. I wish you luck. It does get easier.

I’ve thrown up twice. I think three things occurred- bites too big. Didn’t chew to a puréed consistency and ate too fast. I would not go back to liquids only if you are supposed to be adding in food. It’s about learning to eat differently, which takes time.

4.5 weeks post op and I’ve thrown up since moving to soft foods a few times. But a) I can always tie it to something b) I’m learning to eat slower c) I have a very sensitive stomach these days. So I’m taking it extremely slow, introducing new foods one at a time, and learning when to stop eating. It’s a learning curve and this too shall pass.

Hi Sassysleve76. It sounds like your might be eating to much. Measure every you eat. My dr told me no more than 1/4 cup per meal. I thought he was nuts. I ofcourse was like I'm going to starve, but I went home and I have been measuring every and it has been working out very well. I eat no .ore than 1/4 cup and I am completely satisfied and I don't feel like I over ate or like I'm going to vomit anymore. Good luck to you. I hope that you great success.

Hi there! I actually just started to weigh out my foods and your right; I was probably eating more than I should have. Hopefully this will decrease the vomiting ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
